Welcome!

edit

Hello, BuffyO'B, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Myles Moylan did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Hi and thank you for your welcome. It has taken me a while to get the hang of using these pages - the laptop version is very user-unfriendly. Before I leave you again I just wanted to express my surprise that an original enlistment form or an original census return do not constitute a good source. Contemporary newspaper articles are also usually acceptable sources. Anyway, I made my case and if none of the above are good enough to raise doubts as to the parentage of Myles Moylan or to warrant publication in the reference section on his page then I guess there is nothing further that I have to offer. I am writing an article about him for a historical publication - The Journal of the Old Tuam Society - so at least his profile will be raised in his hometown of Tuam.

Thanks again. BuffyO'B (talk) 07:44, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Myles Moylan. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Materialscientist (talk) 18:06, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Myles Moylan, you may be blocked from editing. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:14, 28 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ScottishFinnishRadish: I think this user meant to put references, but had trouble. He also asked at the teahouse for adding references. Severestorm28 (talk) 19:41, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your feedback. I find it difficult to understand why the Necrology (Life Story)of Bro M.T. Moylan which was compiled by the Christian Brothers is not an acceptable source. The Moylans of Tuam which was published last week in the Journal of the Old Tuam Society #18 features Bro Michael Titus and his uncle Major Myles Moylan. If you check the Superior Generals of the Christian Brothers on the following Wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregation_of_Christian_Brothers you will see that Michael Titus is number five on the list. If you open the page for James Aloysius Hoare, you will see that his entry is supported by a Findagrave reference. BuffyO'B (talk) 20:28, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for reviewing my submission. I'm afraid that an article in an historical journal (Journal of the Old Tuam Society) is the best that I can find by way of a published, reliable, secondary source that is independent of the subject. The newspaper articles that I previously cited, were also discredited.
Thanks for your time. BuffyO'B (talk) 19:51, 22 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
