First-class cricket redlinks
Hi, thanks for the message. As not much is going on in the world of the Associates or Affiliates I thought I'd have a go at the your list that I came across. I was wondering if you'd be able to edit the Hampshire section to remove the blue links so only the red links are left. Thanks.AssociateAffiliate (talk) 23:13, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Yet another (deserved) barnstar...!

For constantly surprising me when I search for an incredibly obscure cricketer, only to find you've already created an article for them... Keep it up, it's much appreciated! — AMBerry (talk) 18:47, 22 December 2009 (UTC) |
...and that obscure cricketer on this occasion would be Selby Norton, which I've expanded a little bit! — AMBerry (talk) 18:47, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Durham redlinks
No problem! I had a look through the Durham CricketArchive players list and could find none missing. When there are new First-class/List-A players I'll try and create them when the new season starts. Now back to Hampshire players and waiting until anything of note in the world of the Affiliates and Associates happens. Now for the ICC to grant mighty Ireland Test status!AssociateAffiliate (talk) 19:54, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Hampshire CB
That does them, I added the already created players to the HCB list, then put the "No names to add" tag to replace the players. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 23:35, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Hampshire redlinks
I'll get back onto those as soon as CricketArchive is back up, it has been down for the last two days. Besides, being snowed in in rural Hampshire means I have nothing else to do! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 09:27, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Citation you added to Lead paint does not say anything about lead causing hearing loss
Hi Bobo192. Thanks for all your edits to Wikipedia. But the citation you added to Lead paint in http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lead_paint&diff=prev&oldid=224431273 does not say anything about lead causing hearing loss. Could you please fix this? One easy way to fix it would be to remove the words "hearing loss" from the article. This seems like a fine plan. I don't know if lead causes hearing loss or not, but it would be fine to leave it out and only list the other awful problems that the CDC says that lead causes. Thanks in advance, --unforgettableid | talk 18:44, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Done and done - no worries. Apologies for my late reply, I've been so swamped in other things lately, that I have had no time to access Wikipedia. All the best. Bobo. 21:17, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I see you fixed it now. Thank you. --unforgettableid | talk 20:20, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Hampshire redlinks
I'll try and get most of those actioned in the next week. I'm just out of hospital after an ankle operation so I'm pretty immobile which means I'll have plenty of time on my hands! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 10:06, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey
Nice to hear back from you Bobo! Those Hampshire redlinks are getting fewer and fewer each day, once I've done those I'll have a go at the Dorset ones. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, been quite some effort! Takes my mind off of the problems in my life at the moment, so I'm happy doing it. Just going through the pre-county club scorecards and creating/tagging players. Added about 50 names to the Hampshire cricketers category this way. Might make 800+ names in the category! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 13:10, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Notable?
Hampshire redlinks
Final push, now under 25 redlinks to do, plus give or take 10-20 pre-county club players. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 16:42, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hampshire redlinks done! Just comparing the Hampshire CricketArchive and adding any that have been missed out, then I'll finish the pre-county club players. Should make 850 cricketers, roughly. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 23:16, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Dorset redlinks
I'll get those finished in the next week or so, then have a crack at a few Berkshire cricketers. Regards, AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:36, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

A request for help (which I think is easy)
I'm trying to clear out the backlog of Category:Requests to move a userspace draft. A request arrived today here. I can figure out what to do in many situations, but I stay away from bands, video games and footballers, as the guidelines for notability are well-established, but I'm not conversant with them. I'll be happy to take care of the move and the follow up, but I;m not in a position to know whether Maxamed Maalimey meets the Notability threshold. I see that you are busy, if you cannot look at this, I'll try another member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Members, unless you want to suggest one.--SPhilbrickT 19:35, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the prompt response. I plan to inform the editor, and suggest the editor check in at the wikiproject. I'll leave you a courtesy copy, but nothing more needed from you at this time.--SPhilbrickT 19:49, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Returning your call
Hi Bobo - good to hear from you. As I go through the seasons I am checking the players and so far have not come across any more missing - apart from one redlink in a recent season which now seems to have been filled. As for Atif, we will see what happens. Regards Motmit (talk) 21:54, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Redlink idea
Go for it! Sounds like a great way to keep track of what has been done, particularly for those John Smiths out there! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 10:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Excellent, will make doing the redlinks a hell of a lot easier! I've been going through and amending some redlinks and bluelinks which lead to the wrong people. Wonder how many English first-class and List-A players are left to do? AssociateAffiliate (talk) 21:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Re: PROD
No worries, just going by WP:CRIC! Cracking on with Berkshire cricketers, nearly done them. Another week and the List-A ones will be done, then just a case of looking through the archives to find notable players who have represented them in MC cricket. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 18:23, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Lets hope in 50 years or so that cricket has grown to such an extent they can be seen as notable. Although given the ICC's regression in terms of the Associates, I somewhat doubt that :( AssociateAffiliate (talk) 09:00, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Re: Slovenian cricketer
All is good here, hopefully the same with yourself. How many English first-class cricketer you think we've got to get done in total? AssociateAffiliate (talk) 18:49, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- Wow.... would never have guessed it was that many. Has to be at least 1500 on the second, the Minor Counties and Cricket Boards have to make nearly a 1000. Not to mention MCC and University cricketers and players who represented XI's and other first-class teams. 6000 at least! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 19:19, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Re:prod
No worries. I suspect that notability criteria may be different on the German wikipedia for pre-Bundesliga footballers. Of course I have no problem keeping the articles if there was more verifiable information that these players are notable.
I went ahead and created an AfD. It's here if there's anything you want to discuss about the deletion. J Mo 101 (talk) 20:52, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Re:Women's List A cricketers
Sounds cool. That would be great, get working on them once I have Cambridgeshire done - I'll pass it onto Harrias as well who seems to be cracking on with some women's articles! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 09:45, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- No rush lol. Will take me an age to get most of the Minor counties cricketers done. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 12:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
This is wonderful stuff. I've just knocked up a quick stub for Ian Hutchinson (cricketer), a player I much admired. A suggestion - a short bit of text at the top of each of your list pages explaining the way it's laid out, would be helpful. For example, I think you've put them in reverse chronological order of first appearance... but I'm guessing. --Dweller (talk) 11:04, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the heads up Bobo. Will AfD that article, even AfDing the non first-class cricketers I created!!! With the players I have completed from your lists, I'm now organising them to lists like List of Dorset CCC players. Just got to work out a way to do the first-class teams. Interview request
"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject Cricket for an article for The Signpost. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Thanks and I take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year! – SMasters (talk) 07:15, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Re:Cheers
Yep, we're hitting the nail on the head with those ones now. We finally reached a consensus on WT:CRIC about what denotes a cricketer as notable. Those who have appeared in WCL Div 5 and above are now notable, those below or who haven't appeared in the WCL are not. Youth ODI and Test cricketers remain non-notable. Hopefully that will put paid to all the months of confusion within the project! Now we're putting in/replacing infoboxes on articles and removing those who don't meet notability as we go. Regards, AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:17, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- All your lists got a mention!!! Hopefully 5 years down the line most of the names will be blue.... just maybe! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:31, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Buckinghamshire redlinks
That's all the Buckinghamshire redlinks done (well the last Ronald Hooker has been started if not done!), just a few more to go on most others on that page. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 18:50, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- That's it. I think I've got all the Minor Counties to have at least 100 players listed under their category (apart from Wales MC and Herefordshire). Think there's also under 150 Minor counties players to go. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 12:03, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Retiring
I don't think I have the motivation nowdays to create/update articles anymore. That's not to say I won't come back in the future, but I wish you well and hope to see some more of those many obscure cricketers getting articles in the future! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:05, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, not at all Bobo. It's for personal reasons. I might get the motivation back next week or next year! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:17, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- I guess I can find ways to motivate myself, I'll give it another go! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 12:53, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
To do
Any significant reduction in the number of English cricketers to do? AssociateAffiliate (talk) 21:18, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Bobo. Nearly 400 in 3 months, not too bad. Should be all done in just under 2 years at that rate, although I'm leaving the 100 matches, 400 wickets, 10,000 runs ones to last, so they'll take longer to do. The Minor counties List A cricketers are down to 42 to go, with a handful being of the loads of wickets and runs description. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 21:44, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- The project has them all covered. Shame most of the single match players have been done, I used to love those. Nice and quick to create! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 21:50, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey Bobo. Culling some Namibian cricketers that fail WP:CRIN. Sorry!!! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:42, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Cleared
I've done the third page of English counties. Also, could you lend a vote to this? Thanks Bobo. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 13:59, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Update
That's Cambridgeshire done. Would you be able to tell me if the other pages have dramatically decreased since the last count? Hope all is well. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 19:50, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Bobo. So give or take an error margin of say 5, that's roughly 2,850 to do. Might be done by 2015! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 20:58, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I had that exact same thought when doing Hugh Smith, though his only appearance was a little more successful than the Kent chaps! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 21:01, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
All done/started
I've created stub articles for the last of the minor counties cricketers, so that's them all done. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:15, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Adam Harrison

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar | |
I don't know why I haven't given you a barnstar thus far! So here is one for making the brilliant redlinked players lists, which without such a resource it would take far longer to create player articles. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 13:40, 21 December 2011 (UTC) |
- I'm looking to get 8,000 names in the English cricketers categories, mostly been getting there via Sussex. Think it's under 50 to go till that landmark. The lists are more than useful, when all the players are done they'll serve as archive to show how many we created! The end of the year has been fruitful, I'll be back in work with the NHS in early January, so the amount I'll create will slow, but I'll still create them! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 19:58, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview
Dear Bobo192,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talk • contribs) 13:21, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Sam Redgate
I was on the cricket forum page and followed the to-do link to User:Bobo192/First-class players lists 011-020. I think I can save you one in the Notts section because I'm sure your "redlink" to Samuel Redgate would duplicate Sam Redgate. He was a famous bowler. Hope this helps. --86.174.153.67 (talk) 08:01, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
No problem. I'd be interested in helping out if I can. What are the "many other benefits" of creating an account rather than using the IP address and can anyone join the cricket project? Thanks. --86.174.153.67 (talk) 10:23, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, Bobo. I'll look around to see what interests me and where I could contribute. I'll let you know if I register a name. --86.174.153.67 (talk) 13:46, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Hello again, Bobo. As you can see, I've registered. I'll join the cricket and football projects and have a good look around. I will try to help with some of the missing players although it looks as if you already have a full set of Yorkshire players who would be my strongest suit. Thanks again for your help. --Brian 21:27, 28 February 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrianDeeG (talk • contribs)

New tactic
As I would here for the next decade writing detailed entries for some of the cricketers which are left, if they have had long career (60+ matches), then I'm just going to create the article with name, dob, batting/bowling styles and an infobox (like at Paul Todd (cricketer)), that way I can knock them off more quickly, then come back to them later. Hi Bobo. Hope you're well. Just a quick note to say I've put a PROD on this one because it seems to duplicate Sandy Allen (cricketer), and in the various parallel improvements since the two articles were started, the other one seems to have acquired a bit more info than this one. New list format
Hi Bobo. Your new format seems fine to me and the collapsibles seem to work as intended. I've changed the links in my chronological list in the CRIC to-do section and mentioned there that is a clear crossover between your lists and mine re the players active to 1850 (especially Sussex, Kent and Surrey). Good work. We'll get there someday. ----Jack | talk page 12:22, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Request to take part in a survey
Hi there. I would very much appreciate it if you could spend ~2 minutes and take a short survey - a project trying to understand why the most active Wikipedia contributors (such as yourself) may reduce their activity, or retire. I sent you an email with details, if you did not get it please send me a wikiemail, so that I can send you an email with the survey questions. I would very much appreciate your cooperation, as you are among the most active Wikipedia editors who show a pattern of reduced activity, and thus your response would be extremely valuable. Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Bobo192. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Bobo192.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Kent
Hello, Bobo. There are now less than 70 Kent players so with a big push we can shift these very soon. I think there are about 300 in total of Middx, Notts & Surrey so, as far as current county clubs go, there could be light at the end of the tunnel (unless it's the proverbial train, of course). If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on S. Perera (Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club cricketer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for Deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, Bobo. Take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dinesh de Zoysa, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/I. Kudigame, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/S. Dhanayake and at their articles, including the footnotes appended. I believe we now have a strong case with two additional pieces of evidence. One is that cricket coverage by Dinamina is expansive per our contact's findings re Perera and so these articles must be protected by WP:NEXIST. Secondly, you will note that I have added the ACS 2005 booklet on Sri Lankan players up to that time as an extra source, so there are now THREE reliable sources for all players up to the 2004–05 SL season.

- Please forgive me, my edit summary was inappropriately blunt. There has been a lot of this deleting articles which meet WP:CRIN lately and it makes me sad. I have been participating to Wikipedia for 13 years now and the fact that we are deciding that some cricketers which do pass CRIN are now apparently inappropriate for the project is making me sad. - While I still think this subject is totally not notable, I am not here to debate the matter and will agree to disagree. May I ask you, however, to link to this article somehow. Eno Lirpa (talk) 12:46, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- As per WP:CRIN, the article is notable. What we do need to do, probably, is write better, and more thorough, lists of individual cricketers by team - those which have been recently deleted have been based on random names which have been plucked out of midair. Articles such as List of Andhra cricketers do not help the project at all and probably need to be extended to include every major cricketer for the team. Bobo. 12:50, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- List of Andhra cricketers was not exactly random. It was the up until then the relevant orphaned articles. It is much better to have an article linked in and hence more visible than languishing as an orphan and essentially invisible and ignored and forgotten. I have added a lot more to the list just now. If you can get to me, or tell me where I can easily find, relevant player match debut and active period data for all the players, in a structured format, I can probably add that very quickly too for you. Eno Lirpa (talk) 13:40, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. You are, I think, the original author of all the articles listed in this case. All fail verification. I believe you will have a stronger case to keep the articles if you provide necessary sourcing. Without this, there is risk of original research. I do not believe notability is a valid reason to delete any article. It is subjective. These are just my opinions. I have not yet cast a vote at the forum. Waj (talk) 10:07, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:J. Desai
Hello, Bobo192. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "J. Desai".

- You may have already seen but I reverted myself on this one. I failed to notice the earlier group AfD from 2017 before nominating. The article therefore doesn't qualify for PROD and given the recent AfD I'm not inclined to take it back there. Sorry for the fire drill. A Traintalk 18:01, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Cricket Archive
Do you still have access to the Cricket Archive? I've written an article for Phipps Bridge and I've spotted via WhatLinksHere that John Pratt (cricketer) died there, but I don't want to add a cite to an article I don't have access to - not least the fact that the estate was built in the 20th century and Pratt died much earlier than that.--Launchballer 23:52, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

“and were the first all female group to have Number 1 hit record with "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”.” In checking this edit out I discovered that the Andrews Sisters had two # 1 hits, including the lamentably rarely heard Merry Christmas Polka. There could be others, (the McGuire Sisters', # 1 Lonesome Polecat might be fun to hear) but one example is enough. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 17:24, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

- The source I’ve been using only goes back to 1940, but in the liner notes for “The Boswell Sisters Collection 1925-36” one finds that The Object of My Affection was their “only No. 1 hit”, in 1935, so add them to the list. Carptrash (talk) 18:15, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

The article Kim Davies has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Speedy deletion nomination of Balbhadra Singh
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Balbhadra Singh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ArbCom 2019 special circular
Administrators must secure their accounts
The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:22, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bobo. Don't feel too disheartened about the deletion of cricketers where only a first initial and a last name is known. I think it's an important compromise to get the "oh he only played one first-class match" off our back when he have all the biographical details. CRIN
For the most part I agree with you Bobo192, I'm not overly bothered about one FC/LA players being redirected (though they seem reluctant to even do that), I think my larger problem is with certain users who have appeared who have not contributed anything in the way of new articles or expansions to cricket articles. I look through some of the names at that notability discussion and hardly any have previously contributed to the cricket project in a constructive manner, yet feel they have some inherent right to dictate to the project what can and can't be done. By all means make suggestions, but at least get some constructive article contributions behind you and some respect in the project first. Why should I get the likes of John Manners to GA and contribute articles, even on minor players in the grand scheme where I exhaustively research them, only for users who contribute nothing in the way of expanding our content to think its their personal play thing. Nah, that is earned, don't you think? For that reason, I'm a bit like you, I can't be arsed. Sad I know, because even looking at the project talk page you know it's dead, with more and more contributors being driven away. StickyWicket (talk) 20:24, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

What's the meaning of this...
I have no doubt that you are well aware of WP:NPA, so would you please explain the meaning of this? wjematherplease leave a message... 15:04, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- You seem to have misunderstood my comment above. I was not suggesting that your comment was a personal attack; I was referring only to the comment that was removed from the discussion, in accordance with policy (
"derogatory comments about other editors may be removed by any editor."
). BTW, it's probably better if you reply (if you feel the need – no obligation, of course) here rather than clogging up the AFD. wjematherplease leave a message... 18:00, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Your recent comments
Hello. I'm writing to raise a concern about your recent comments surrounding AFDs, such as impugning editors' motives or maligning their contributions, e.g. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]; the very old and outdated "deletionists v. content creators" malarky, e.g. [9] [10]; and copy-and-paste keep !votes, e.g. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17], among other things. Months ago, an editor made a similar complaint, which you brushed off. [18] According to the tool, your last 180 AFD participations go back to 2005, and over that 16-year period, your AFD match percentage is 53.7% [19]. This is extremely low. (For context/comparison, your last 500 mainspace edits go back to 2012 [20].) I understand that you were active years ago (thank you for your contributions to the project), and I also understand that a number of your article creations have recently been nominated at AFD, and that you've returned to argue "keep". I totally get that having articles you created get nominated for deletion is frustrating; I would be frustrated if I were in your shoes, too. And I get that the website has changed a lot over the last 20 years. But it's not OK to malign our colleagues because they're deleting articles you created; your views on notability clearly don't match the community's, and while you're entitled to have a differing opinion, you're not entitled to create a negative editing environment by impugning other editors because you disagree with them about notability, or spamming AFDs with copy and paste keep !votes. Some leeway on this is certainly deserved, but you've been at this for months now, and so I ask you to make the necessary adjustments here. Thanks, Levivich harass/hound 17:00, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
- On a related note; most (if not all) of these AFDs have the rationale

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Kurunegala Sports Club cricketers
A tag has been placed on Category:Kurunegala Sports Club cricketers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
Liz Read! Paul Strong
RE this edit summary, I PRODed it because I believe it fails WP:GNG and WP:NCRICKET (I did check, but with that generic a name finding sources is near impossible and it looks like he was a non-notable cricketer) and had naething to do with getting "eyes on an article". Nae particularly happy about the implication that I'd misuse the PROD system CiphriusKane (talk) 03:58, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
- No chance this article would survive at AfD, so I've boldly redirected it to the list of Bucks List A players per the outcome of numerous AfDs on similar articles earlier in the year. It seems clear that there are many others in that list (and similar lists) that warrant the same treatment. wjematherplease leave a message... 12:37, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
- In case you missed it, both the WP:NCRIC guideline, and the expanded WP:CRIN essay, have been updated; from the explanatory supplement WP:OFFCRIC:
"The Cricket WikiProject deems only matches between two first-class counties as being notable enough to presume coverage in English and Welsh List A tournaments"

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

User:Bobo192/UBX
I hope you don't mind that I edited User:Bobo192/UBX. I came to it because it was listed at Lint errors: Miscellaneous issues. I was about to save my edit and discovered you had deleted a large portion of the page, so nearly all of my fixes went away.
Please be aware that Wikipedia now uses HTML5, and the markup for centering table cells should be changed from align="center"
(with or without quotes) to style="text-align:center"
.
The markup for vertical aligning table rows should be changed from valign="top"
(with or without quotes) to style="vertical-align:top"
.
The markup for background color should be changed from bgcolor="red"
(with or without quotes) to style="background:red"
. When the color uses hexadecimal digits, the # symbol is mandatory in the new markup.
Font styling for table cells can usually be accomplished with <span>...</span>
rather than <div>...</div>
, and if the style applies to the whole table cell, it can be merged with the style info before the table cell, for example, style="text-align:center; background:blue; color:white"
.

Australian cricketers
Hey Bobo. Can't find your old lists for 'redlinked' cricketers, maybe I'm losing the plot! I created 2 articles yesterday on a couple of Australian cricketers and had me wondering if they were the last two Aussies needing articles. Do your lists suggest that as well? Your AfD !votes
I noticed that a few of your recent AfD votes appeal to deprecated guidelines such as presumed notability for international Cricket players, and you've also asked for a procedural keep on the grounds that the nom did not go to WT:CRICKET first (if I'm understanding this correctly). Your comments will carry far greater weight if you can demonstrate that the article has sufficient SIGCOV sourcing to meet NSPORTS. Please refrain from making further !votes that are not based on our current policies and guidelines, as this is confusing and disruptive to the AfD process. The article Abhishek Sinha has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No reliable sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. nirmal (talk) 07:55, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not blindly remove proposed deletion tags like you did here, as it will now need to go through the formality of AFD (unless you WP:G7 it?). From a quick check of the external link, it is clear that this player has been confused with the similarly named Avishek Sinha. Having found the correct profile on CA, it's apparent that the only known match played by Abhishek Sinha (actually Abheek Sinha) was at under-15 level, so he utterly fails even the old NCRIC. This is yet another illustration of the problems with robotically copying from a database of questionable reliability in an attempt to create complete sets. wjematherplease leave a message... 08:39, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- Additionally, there is zero basis for claiming
"we've been good at finding new information lately. It is likely there is more information floating around somewhere"
. Countless AFDs have demonstrated that the opposite is true. wjematherplease leave a message... 08:55, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

- You are more than aware of the changes made to sports notability guidelines, particularly NCRIC, during the last year or so. With that in mind, please do not remove prod tags with spurious reasoning as you did here – it could easily be considered disruptive. wjematherplease leave a message... 18:35, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

- I ask again, please do not contest proposed deletions and insist on AFDs when there is no reasonable expectation that the subject meets the requirements for a standalone article, i.e. significant coverage in reliable (secondary) sources independent of the subject. Please note, several contributors have recently been topic banned from deletion related activity for similar actions. wjematherplease leave a message... 10:30, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
