Tiger proofing

It never is good when a Wikipedia article is so ignorant like this. Lengthening courses does not remove the advantage from long hitters. Quite obviously so, it givens them MORE of an advantage. Just common sense that a course that plays to your strength will be better for you. And obviously, a course where the shorter hitters are hitting a 6 iron on their second shot while the longer hitters hit 8 iron is better for them than a longer course where they are hitting a 3 iron to their opponents 6 iron. MUCH bigger difference in accuracy/control between a 3 and 6 iron and a 6 and 8 iron. The term "Tiger proofing" was made up by race baiters out of sheer ignorance. Courses desperately WANTED Tiger to play their tournaments. Since it obviously meant more fans and more money. And since Tiger always played a very reduced schedule, basically playing the majors, the Players and WGCs and then whatever tournament were sponsored by companies he had deals with, tournaments bent over backwards to make their course MORE enticing to Tiger. And THAT is why they lengthened their courses. To make it BETTER for Tiger. Because again, plain old common sense should tell you that longer courses favor longer hitters, just as courses with narrow fairways and deep rough favor more accurate hitters. 69.112.239.6 (talk) 02:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

• Wikipedia doesn't speculate about the impact of what the management of a course is doing. It's not "ignorant". We are a tertiary source, and as such we write with prose that is supported largely by secondary sources, as the passage you are complaining about has done. If you can find sources that make this article less "ignorant", by all means please provide them in the article supporting prose that contradicts what is already said, or post them here on the talk page and we can do it for you. --Hammersoft (talk) 03:09, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Allegation not supported by evidence

the section on 2021 car crash says that Woods was speeding. The articles linked to this statement do not say he was speeding. I'm confused by your comment. Change "For the record, he is one-quarter Thai, one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Caucasian, one-eighth African American and one-eighth Native American." to "Woods is one-fourth black, one-fourth Thai, one-fourth Chinese, one-eighth white and one-eighth American Indian." because this is the actual quote from the source linked in the article.

However, the reality is closest to this which should be reflected. "He is African American, one-quarter Thai, one-quarter Caucasian, part Chinese, and part Native American."

Sources come from Earl Woods wikipedia page and the fact that his mother was of African and European ancestry, indicating Earl Woods is likely 3/4 African American (1/2 from his father and 1/4 from his mother) meaning Tiger is 3/8 African American. Having so many fractions is confusing, so I have suggested the wording above. Noting the Chinese and Native American ancestry through Earl Woods is so far undocumented.

The sources available suggest Kultida Woods is 1/2 Thai, 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Caucasian (Dutch). This confirms Tiger Woods is 1/4 Thai, 1/4 Caucasian (1/4 Kultida and 1/4 Earl), but given Earl's Chinese ancestry is undetermined Tiger's is undetermined (minimum 1/8 through Kultida). Change made

The issue was that the citation, which referred to an article about Tiger's appearance on an Oprah show, wasn't the source for the ESPN quote. (Worst, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal article that was cited contains a completely different ethnic breakdown.)

I've now added a citation for the ESPN article and a quotation mark to show the end of the ESPN quote.

Can we explain the meaning of Eldrick?

No particular reason it should be; we don't in general discuss the meaning of people's given names. Unfortunately, the sources I found have these cutesy names that make me bout they'll be accepted as sources. So when trying to create a stub article from scratch, that's not helpful.

REASON: A simple check of the free California Birth Index will show that Eldrick T Woods, Tiger's legal name, was born in Los Angeles County on 30 Dec 1975.

Cypress is in Orange County, as even the city's Wikipedia page identifies. It has alwats been part of said county. No hospital has ever existed within the city limits.
