I can understand your frustration to the extent that personal knowledge can sometimes seemingly override what the newspaper says; but if we allow that which is unsupported by reputable sources (all of which conform to a specific criteria [[WP:RS|explained here]]) to find its way into our encyclopedia, we have abandoned all hope of maintaining verifiability short of speaking directly with the person holding a viewpoint.
