I added a Folktale that many people of the town know about. I know this due to me having family in this city and me interviewing many people of the town.

==History==
The first mention of a settlement on the site of Brody is dated 1084 ([[Vladimir II Monomakh#Reign|Instructions by Vladimir Monomach]]). Many folktales say that the town was formed by Brody Lail who named it after himself. He would gather people who were unhappy about the condition of Ukraine at the time. The town had become full of working men and their wives and children. Batu Kahn did not like the idea of this freedom in Ukraine and would fight Brody in a one-on-one duel to the death for the town and its freedom. This epic battle was recorded by many different writers and poets in this epic battle. Brody and Batu would fight for what was said to be nine hours. The strikes that would be thrown were said to be so fast that most could not see the swords being swung but could only see blurs. In the end Batu Kahn would come out on top while barely clinging to life. It is believed to have been destroyed by [[Batu Khan]] in 1241.
