Berkeley has been a [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democratic]] popularstronghold in presidential elections since 1960, becoming one of the most Democratic cities in the country. The last [[Republican Party (United States)|Republican]] presidential candidate to receive at least one-quarter of the vote in Berkeley was [[Richard Nixon]] in 1968.
