This article starts by saying that a hunky punk is a form of gargoyle local to Somerset in the UK. In the second paragraph, we are told that hunky punks are absolutely decorative; this means they are not gargoyles but grotesques. Then, in the third paragraph, it is stated that hunky punks are not just restricted to Somerset but can be found all over the world. So which is it? Are they gargoyles or just grotesques? Are they only found in Somerset or are they everywhere? If they are found world-wide, and are not only in the style of a squatting figure, surely 'hunky punk' is just a Somerset dialect term for 'grotesque' (or maybe 'gargoyle')? :As far as I can tell, this is just a regional name for a grotesque. No concrete distinction is given, nor is apparent in any of the photos listed below.
