Les Respectables is a Canadian rock band that was founded in City in 1991.

Biography
Origin
Following a long journey to the United States (US), guitarist and singer, Sébastien Plante, recontacted Pascal Dufour in their home province of Quebec. Dufour had been Plante's decade-long partner in the band, "Moonlight Drive". Following a meeting, the former band members decided to contact Moonlight Drive's bassist, Stéphane Dussault, with the intention of forming a rock music group. Joined by drummer Stéphane Beaudin, the four young musicians subsequently commenced rehearsing as a band.

In the summer of 1991, the four Quebecians borrowed from a Rolling Stones song to conceive the band name, Les Respectables, and also proceeded to begin playing live performances. Performing in local bars, the rock group played original compositions that had been co-written by Sébastien Plante and Pascal Dufour. After several months, approximately twenty new songs had been added to the band's repertoire and Les Respectables considered itself a fully-fledged musical outfit.

The four musicians consolidated their cohesion as a group during the live performances undertaken during touring and the Les Respectables identity consequently formed.

In 1999, the band released its first album with the PassportRecord Records label, : Les Disques Passeport, $ = happiness (also known by its French title, "$ = bonheur"). The first single release from the album, "L'homme 7 Up", gained the band a considerable level of attention and the 7 Up company eventually purchased the rights to the song for advertising purposes. Subsequent single releases, "Amalgame", "Plaisir" and "Holà décadence" received heavy rotation on commercial radio that carried over into the next decade. The band then completed a tour of Quebec and a thirdsixth single release, "L'argent fait le bonheur" (Money Is Happiness"), reached the top placement in the music charts and remained in this position for over two months.
