The [[Delafield, Wisconsin|City of Delafield]] is locatedadjacent withinto the town. The unincorporated community of [[Buena Vista, Waukesha County, Wisconsin|Buena Vista]] is located in the town.

The town of Delafield was originally named "Nemahbin". The name was changed in the [[4th Wisconsin Territorial Assembly]] in 1844.
