==History==
This town was founded in 1960 on the Garth estate, land which would have served as the headquarters of the British army during the Patriote rebellion in 1837. Maison Garth, built-in 1833, is listed as a historic monument, although still in use. This model residential community was founded as part of a federal program of the defunct Ministry of Urban Affairs, which encouraged the creation of “new towns”.
