He was the Dutch [[ambassador]] to [[Republic of Ireland|Ireland]] and has served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Crisis Management and Operations at the [[North Atlantic Treaty Organization]] (NATO). He has been posted to [[Moscow]] and [[New York, New York|New York]] ([[United Nations]]), and was the first Dutch ambassador to [[KievKyiv]], [[Ukraine]]. ==Reaction to the death of Ziad Abu Ein==
Serry said he was “deeply saddened” by the death of the Palestinian Arab minister Ziad Abu Ein following an altercation between Abu Ein and Israeli soldiers during a demonstration. Serry expressed his condolences to the official’s family, the Palestinian people and its leadership. In 1979 Abu Ein orchestrated a terrorist bombing that killed two Israeli 16-year olds during the [[Lag_BaOmer|Lag BaOmer]] cerebration in Tiberias.
