Fashion Friday: The Bags and Bedrooms of Meichi Peng

Boston designer Meichi Peng is becoming a bit of a mogul. While busy with her very successful design firm, Meichi Peng Design Studio, she's added handbag designer and boutique owner to her resume. Located in the SoWa area of the South End, her shop offers up not only her GORGEOUSLY constructed handbags and leather goods but also an eclectic mix of furniture, art, antiques, accessories, art and jewelry from the far off lands of France, Indonesia and China.

I really cannot get enough of the multi-zipper bag. It's so unique and stunning in it's simplicity. The birght little clutches with their bold stiching are pretty darn sweet too.

Messenger bags are BIG for fall, and this leather one looks like it's so well made it would not only last you a lifetime, but would get better with time as well.

Her clever key chain wristlet allows you to turn your car keys into jewelry of sorts- remember what I said about key jewelry? :) Plus it's nice to keep you hands free while juggling your Starbucks cups.

Her interiors reflect the same linear, carefully sleek aesthetic with a mix of textures and influences:

Of Course.

I just had to publicly lament about the fact that after all my hard work and planning to hold my party outside on the patio, it's going to pour tonight for my birthday party.
Of course it is.
New England, sometimes I really, really hate you.

What I'm Loving: Urban Electric Company

I came to know Urban Electric Co. through a really exciting, gorgeous project I'm working on (this client has used just about every fixture I've coveted in my life). Not only are their products drop-dead gorgeous in person, they are the most lovely company to work with- amazing customer service and generous flexibility, which is really hard to come by these days in this industry!
The Belmont almost brings me to tears in it's classic perfection:

These two can be painted in any Benjamin Moore color possible. Love the details.

Some classic lanterns:

Loving this one:

Very unique, fun little lanterns:

This is a reproduction of a Dorothy Draper fixture that is in the Metropolotain Museum of Art:

Fave designer Amanda Nisbet designed these for the company:

Wall sconces are also their specialty- with lots of styles ot choose from- modern to traditional:

What I'm Loving: Echo for Kravet Wallpapers

I'm diggin' these new prints from Echo for Kravet's new wallpaper line. The yellow and white damask print is such a modern/traditional mix that could go either way (new word: tradern? moditional?) And the zebra, is well-ME. A powder room with zebra paper and glossy white lacquer mirror and vanity? Sign. Me. Up.

I Want To Go To There: Stone House 1854

Summer is in full swing and while I love the hustle and bustle of the city, I certainly crave quiet time by the ocean (which has yet to happen this year). One place I'd love to spend a couple days listening to the waves and meandering through the countryside is the new 13 room Stone House hotel in the gorgeous, quiet seaside community of Little Compton, Rhode Island (I must admit, every time I say "Little Compton" I have an urge to start spewing Dr. Dre lyrics about the other Compton...) But I digress.

This place is AMAZING. Recently renovated by the Goosewing Hotels crew, they maintained the traditional exterior of the main house and barn (the house has two foot thick stone walls) while modernizing the interior into a sleek, clean lined escape reminiscent of an urban hotel. The juxtaposition of the new and old makes for a really interesting design.

The restaurant Pietra has a Tuscan inspired menu, while the casual bar/dining space, called 1854, is in the lower level in a room that is rumored to have been a speakeasy (I love that kind of history in a place!)

Did I mention that the Stone House has it's own Hinckley yacht available at your disposal for sunset cruises or trips to Newport?

Yes please.

While in Little Compton, you could spend an afternoon touring the Sakonnet Vineyards and feel like, if only for a moment, you've been transported to Napa!
