In India, Khadi is not just a cloth, it is a whole movement started by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). The Khadi movement promoted an idea that Indians could be self-reliant on cotton and be free from the high priced goods and clothes which the British were selling to them. Mahatma Gandhi began promoting the spinning of khādī for rural self-employment and self-reliance (instead of using cloth manufactured industrially in Britain) in 1920s India Till nowadays Khadi is still made by hand, and bying a product made of Khadi supports local people directly! - not companies! It is a versatile fabric, cool in summer and warm in winter. Care instructions As it is a hand woven natural fabric it requires hand wash in a warm water up to 40C to prevent shrinking, drying in the shade. If ironing, iron it like a linen fabric slightly wet. If the fabric has an embroidery on it,please cover the embroidered piece with another cloth or tower to iron. ● Please avoid using washing machine on "handwash" cycle as it may result in shrinking the fabric.
