Squids
L to R: M, 8th / F, 6th / F, 8th / "Favorite Animals” unit: students painted primed plastic bottles with acrylic paint of their choice. Eyes were previously attached using plastic capsules, hot glue and modeling clay. Students studied images of squid eyes before painting the black pupils. They chose yarn, streamers, and cut fabric and taped them to the inside of the bottle. They painted the textured side of bubble wrap to act as their squid’s tentacles which were attached to the twine hanger.
Activities for Hispanic Heritage Month
This link shares tips and ideas for classroom activities for celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). Included are lesson ideas, crafts, books, movies, and more that can be used to bring awareness to Hispanic culture and influential Hispanic Americans. Working with younger students, I could share info such as the the different countries that Hispanic Americans come from, do a read aloud on an influential figure, and then a craft that is reflective of their culture.
