We have used these exact materials time & time again, for multiple projects, to achieve the White Oak look I love!  My go-to stain combo that works every time- One thing I do before even getting started on staining: sand the wood I’m working on. Sanding is a key step you do not want to miss, as it helps remove the yellow layer that is in a lot of woods. I start with 120/150 grit and then move to 220 so it gets nice & smooth!  Once sanded, I apply Minwax Pre-Stain & wipe away any excess. This helps so the stain goes on evenly. Often times, applying a clear coat of a stain can possibly turn it orange and make it look like a whole different type of wood other than white oak. My best recommendation is to get some white oak samples from your cabinet maker and test out different ones.  Our painter provided many samples and we landed on this one.
