Mother Teresa of Calcutta used a rosary made of Job’s Tears for her personal prayers.  The fruit of Job’s Tears has been used in jewelry since before Christ. Growing as its maker intended, each seed grows with a perfect hole that runs through it making it easy to string, and feed wire through. Seeds of Job’s Tears are used for jewelry, basket making, and gourd decorating, just for starters. The beads are highly prized by designer jewelers. This summer, HCCC introduced a new addition to our Craft Garden: the Coix Lacryma Jobi plant, also known as Job’s Tears! This plant produces tear-shaped seeds in a variegated gray color that can be used in jewelry making and beading. These beads are unique, as they grow naturally on the plant, with a hole through the middle and a hard, shiny coating.
