Lisa Kim in the beginning stages of raising a repoussé cuff. A sheet of sterling silver is sunk into a bowl of pitch, a material that consists of plaster, tree resin, asphalt and wax. The pitch supports the metal as Lisa Kim strikes steel tools with a hammer against it to create relief. Chasing and repoussé allows Lisa Kim to create large pieces that remain light and wearable.
