Home to Tennessee Williams in the late 1930's. 722 Toulouse Street New Orleans, ca. 1937.
Bourbon Street The setting of Tennessee Williams' play (A Streetcar Named Desire) New Orleans became a burgeoning city in the 1940s and Bourbon Street remained one of its most famous tourist attractions. Jazz revitalized itself and the blues began creeping into the music scene. (Also, in the picture, notice how cars had a lower, longer, and broader look. Dodge, Plymouth, and Ford vehicles were popular.)
