- Himantopus és un gènere d'ocells limícoles i de la família dels recurviròstrids (Recurvirostridae). Als Països Catalans habita una de les espècies, el camallarga, nom que es fa extensiu a la resta d'espècies d'aquest gènere i del proper Cladorhynchus. El bec, de color negre, és llarg, recte i fi, i les potes, de color rosa viu, són extraordinàriament llargues i en vol pengen darrere del cos. Les diferents espècies habiten en aiguamolls i llacs salins de tots els continents. Algunes poblacions fan grans migracions. Els colors del plomatge de les diferents espècies són el blanc i el negre, en diferents proporcions. Presenten una membrana interdigital poc desenvolupada entre els dits anteriors.S'alimenten d'invertebrats i petits vertebrats que agafen amb el bec, de prop de la superfície de l'aigua. Crien en colònies de 20 – 40 parelles, on coven ambdós pares. Són molt territorials i defenen el territori de manera molt sorollosa. (ca)

- Ходулочники (лат. Himantopus) — род водных птиц из семейства шилоклювковых. В настоящее время систематика остаётся неопределённой: разные авторы выделяют от двух до пяти видов. В сравнении с родственными шилоклювками ходулочники имеют прямой (а не изогнутый кверху) клюв, более длинные ноги и сравнительно короткую шею. Задний палец редуцирован. Крылья длинные и узкие, очень острые. В сложенном состоянии они далеко выдаются за обрез хвоста. Ходулочники представлены достаточно широко в обоих полушариях, отсутствуя лишь в северной части умеренных широт, полярных и безводных регионах планеты. Особый случай представляет собой чёрный ходулочник, распространённый исключительно в Новой Зеландии. Основными угрозами для чёрного ходулочника и причинами его вымирания является истребление хищниками (в том числе, интродуцированными человеком — кошками, фретками, ежами, серыми крысами) и искусственное изменение ландшафтов — использование земель под сельское хозяйство и строительство гидроэлектростанций. Во всех случаях ходулочники занимают схожие биотопы: зарастающие травой болота, заливные поля, берега внутренних водоёмов с пресной или солоноватой водой, эстуарии, обнажаемые во время отлива участки побережий морских заливов.
