It's all worth it

Since we brought Sydney home my life has felt like it went in slow motion at first and then all of sudden it fast forwarded.  Adjusting to a second child was a bit better than I anticipated.  Recovery and nursing was better.  Obviously less sleep but I survived. This time I had to adjust to different things for example the state of my home.

Each day I would clean it and in an instance it would go back to how it was.  I've had a hard time with this.  I tried all kinds of cleaning schedules and plans and they've all failed.  Then one day while talking to my mom on the phone she admitted to me that for the most part the house wouldn't look like it did when it was just David and me.  This frustrated me a lot because it drives me crazy having all this mess mostly a result of toys, baby clothes, cheerios, and a variety of spilt drinks. All of this was tormenting me. Then after many conversations with my mom I was reminded that my kids would only be this little for what felt like a very short period.  It's true.

Syndey is almost a one year old and will play quietly with her sister for awhile, this gives me a bit of time to clean and organize.  Obviously, it doesn't last because kids are all about playing in the clean spaces.  Finally, I have just decided that I want to enjoy my girls and worry less about having a spotless home.  I've decided that if someone stops by and sees the horrific state my home is and judge me for it than oh well!   My girls are happy and I like them that way.  I will have plenty of years in the future where my home can be spotless even though that will be sign that my kids have grown up.   I don't want to regret my days with my young kids all because I wanted an immaculate home. My home is a mess and somehow I find these days to be some of the sweetest.

A list of things my girls have done:

Naomi is taking her first dance class.

Sydney started crawling at 7 months old and then started walking at 10.5 months old.

Naomi has almost memorized the entire "Let it Go" song from the movie Frozen.

Sydney can say ball, bebe, hi, Mama, Papa, oof oof (dog).  This girl loves giving kisses.  She also loves all baby dolls.

They fight over the same toys but ultimately they are best friends already.  I just love these girls. Here they are playing with my kitchen items.

Family Pictures

I didn't really think that family pictures could be so stressful.  All day goes in planning outfits, baths, and doing hair.  I guess that's the beauty of having girls.  On the day of our pictures though I decided I'd be a super awesome wife and I let my husband go paint-balling and well that turned my day into a stress and teeth grinding day. I soon repented of that. I think I was getting ready to cancel the session because after my husbands delay returning home, the weather looked like it was taking a turn for the worse.  Sigh.  Then suddenly we made it to the session, only 4 minutes late, considering Naomi decided to take a nap late in the day after I spent hours trying to convince her to sleep early in the day.

These pictures are worth all the trouble and chaos that goes into planning.  :)

My husband is so lucky...

Because despite how small I am I can still carry his children!  Ha.  Without one darn stretch mark.  :)  I love my babies even though I can't deliver them how I would've hoped.

My friend Yojana came to the house before Sydney was born and took these amazing pictures.  I was a bit embarrassed because none of my maternity clothes was fitting any more.  Despite the size of my belly I only gained 25 lbs.  Woohoo!

Seriously, Thank you Yojana for making me look good.  :)

Sydney Grace

We welcomed our second daughter Sydney Grace two weeks ago.

Born February 22nd
8 lbs 15 oz
19.5 inches long
born 7:44 a.m.

I think she looks a lot like Nomi.  I always wanted twins now I can pretend I have them even though they're about 2 years and nine months apart.  :)

A message to Naomi

Today my two year old daughter cried herself to sleep after the seams in her purse ripped apart and now I'm trying to fix it.  I'm not trying to set her up and make her believe I can fix everything.  I just want her to know that even the smallest of her problems can be my problems too.

I think it's quite important that I remember to listen to her even if at times her speech isn't very coherent or what she says MAY NOT seem of high importance because perhaps the day will come when I will want her to speak to me and she might not interested.

Finally a picture of the three of us

Naomi and I are currently visiting Chicago for the second time this year.  David was with us earlier last week, but because of work he had to head home earlier.  His family held their family reunion last week and  we took a few family pictures of the almost complete Beer clan (we missed Doug, Mandy, and the boys).  In my opinion, they turned out spectacular!  I think other people who have seen the pictures may agree with my observation.  :) Since we hadn't taken any recent family pictures of our family of three we decided to take advantage of the photographer that was present.

Since our blog isn't private I decided I would just share our pictures.  Just for the sake of some of my family members who wish to not have their pictures be made public.

I thought the black and white picture of the three of us turned out pretty well considering Naomi spaced out.

I just love these two pictures of Naomi.  She's such a big girl now.  She says and does all kinds of things.  I wish I could follow her with a camera all day!

Did you notice that?  If you didn't maybe it's not as obvious as I think it is (even though I'm pretty certain it's obvious).  I'm sporting a pretty nice 12 week bump.  :)

Feed a child a Cherry...

...And you'll get a good picture.
My friend Yojana is learning photography and she was brave enough to go to Santaquin with us and take pictures of Naomi.  Finding a way to get Naomi to stay still was a serious conundrum.  I thought for a moment that the best picture of hers would be when she calmed down just so she could dig a hole in the dirt.  *sigh*

I finally came down with the brilliant idea of tossing yogurt covered cherries to her and alas the child stood still.  Yojana took about a 100 hundred pictures and despite how much Naomi wiggled, she managed to capture her finest moments.    :)   Thank YOU, YOJANA!!!
