Now
I’m typing this late on November 19, 2025, from my study in Jönköping. The first snow fell this afternoon. An hour later, the neighborhood kids were on the hill below our kitchen window, sledding like maniacs. I saw plenty of green patches on that hill, so it must have been a rough ride, but of course, the kids couldn’t care less about the glide conditions. Winter is coming! Or maybe it’s already here?
I like the idea of being a guy who writes a diary. And believe me, I’ve tried. Many, many times. By hand, you know, with an actual pen! Text files on my computer. Fancy apps. I might keep it up for a couple of days. Heck, maybe even a week. But eventually… inevitably, I will just stop doing it. It never sticks. But! But, but, but. I’ve found a hack. While I’m apparently unable to keep a diary, I am able to keep a now page on my website. Personal websites often have a link that says »now« which tells you what this person is focused on at this point in their life. It’s called a »now page«. What you’re holding in your hand right now is an archived copy of my now page, as it read in the autumn of twenty-five. It’s my »now zine«. The first of many? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ haha, maybe.
(This page is inspired by Derek Sivers’s now page idea. You should make one, too.)
