Lovely house in Thrissur Kerala - Traditional Kerala architecture plus the modern aspects, a wonderful meld of old-style living with vivid and contemporary nuances.

At the entrance you see a raised platform called “thinnai”, a porch overlooking the courtyard in a traditional Chettinad home, to receive visitors. The built-in wooden seating on the entrance verandah adds to its quaint charm as do the Chettinad wooden pillars on either side.

Located in the Kottayam District of Kerala, 'INARA HOUSE' is a single-family residence built to evoke tranquility through architecture. The client wished for us to create a humble abode with plenty of natural light and ventilation within the spaces while maintaining privacy. The design also aimed to achieve seamless integration with outdoor to enhance the user experience.

We call this the Minimal Indian House - ‘Minimal’, as there is no ostentation or decoration of any kind. Minimalist house design with traditional Indian elements, where the building elements like walls, floors, roof reveals, themselves as it is - walls are in stabilised mud blocks (Smb). Floor is natural Kota and the ceiling are filler slab roofing and the staircase treads are in Fossil Jaisalmer.
