Random Ramblings on BL Dramas – Sculpted Light 塑光, Fan Service 팬서비스 + More
In the past year or so, more and more YouTube BL series have sprung up… They are usually short series of about 10 minutes, or less, per episode per week, and I am not talking about vertical series which at least drop all their episodes in one go! They are also mostly low budget series of less than 10 episodes per series, following the traditional Korean BL strategy of releasing just one episode of about 10 or 15 minutes per week, but of course there are exceptions. It has now become almost impossible to keep track of these new short series as they are released, so I have decided to just note two of the recent series from two new channels, and also keep a list of the other YouTube channels that have been releasing BL series from the past year or so. Hard Nights คืนนี้ผมนอนไม่หลับ (direct translation is I Can’t Sleep Tonight) is a 10-episode Thai LGBTQ+ drama series which will premiere on January 11, 2026. Finally a gay drama from Thailand featuring a middle-aged couple in their 50s… I don’t think this can be classed as a BL drama since it tackles more realistic gay relationship as opposed to fantasy storylines in BL dramas, to me BL dramas are a sub-genre under the LGBTQ+ genre. Having said that, I will still tag this post under BL as well as LGBTQ+, just to confuse you, LOL… No, seriously this is in case readers who consider all Asian gay dramas as BL, they can still find this post under the BL tag…
