Day 134 | 33:13 | TO: ALL
CALLING: ARBUCKAL, ADRIEN
[ Though it’s Adrien’s ID that comes up, the first voice that comes across belongs to Ginko. ]
It seems we have some trouble lurking around the station. The tunnel we arrived in shows signs of recent activity. Someone or something has dragged off that exit sign, though there were more alarming changes as well.
[ When it comes to this topic, his tone adopts a grimness that he seldom takes on. ]
Most notably that it now contains a few more bodies than there were previously. Many of them are quite recently deceased, and our best estimates indicate that they may have died just prior to our arrival.
[ The solemn words are followed by a pause and the familiar shuffling of the blackglass. Adrien’s voice pipes up next.
As is typical with the doctor, he sounds grim and gets straight to the point. ]
Some of the bodies show evidence of extensive defensive wounds; suggesting they fought hard. From the patterns of broken bones, there are also indicators that at least some, if not all were ambushed from behind. The damage to some of the corpses was too extensive to get an accurate picture.
[ There is a brief pause before his next words. ]
All the dead, were adults.
[ He’ll pause again, perhaps looking to Ginko to see if the other man has anything further to add, before ending the call with a simple. ]
There’s no way to tell if what we found down here has anything to do with any of the other recent oddness, but we thought everybody should be made aware of the situation.

Recruits?
I haven't seen any other adults aside from the CDC recruits here. Where'd they get them from?
no subject
We didn't recognize anyone and we didn't find any cuffs.
Like Ginko said, our best guess is they've been dead for roughly 4 days, which is roughly just before we arrived.
no subject
Just before we arrived.
[ a pause, contemplative ]
Then this station may have gone through a culling just very recently. Could you tell how old the other corpses were?

The question of the hour, right there.
They're certainly not ours. At most I'd venture they're more "retired" recruits, if the last station gives us anything to go by. But it's a wild assumption at best.
no subject
Did anyone happen to bring samples back? There might be a medical facility somewhere around here that could be used to try to learn more.
no subject
Any way to suggest potential info on the perpetrators? Height, strength, individual or group? It would be helpful if we need to be on the lookout.
[Was it the children or should they be watching for unfamiliar adults who might or might not be recruits?]
no subject
Nothing definitive beyond that they appeared to have been ambushed from behind.
Some of the bodies indicated the individual put up a fight before they were subdued, most with cranial trauma.
One thing of note; despite the level of damage they sustained, the bodies were arranged in rows. It was eerily respectfully. They weren't simply dumped haphazard.
no subject
And you said they were apparently adults. [That doesn't actually rule out the kids since size isn't always an indicator of strength.]
Given the lack of adults around the station other than us, I'd hold off on assuming respect for the dead had anything to do with the placement of the bodies. I can think of a few other reasons they might have been left that way.

My instincts are leaning toward group simply because of the sheer number of corpses, but it's nothing more than pure speculation right now.
no subject
Understandable. We aren't really equipped for a full scale forensic investigation on a normal day let alone here.

The only ones here besides us are all those kids with white hair, right? Have any sightings been reported of anyone else who is not part of the Neheda crew, or the new recruits who were brought here?
no subject
Not to my knowledge, no. I had assumed it was just us and the children, but these bodies have to be coming from somewhere.
no subject
Right, and somebody has to be putting them there. The only possible suspects we have right now are the kids who live here, but that doesn't narrow it down any... And they're just kids. Their behavior is strange, but it seems like a leap in logic to accuse any of them of murder.

How many did you find?
[Because "a few" isn't an exact number.]
no subject
Without knowing how many bodies were in there to begin with, any number we give would be an estimate at best.
no subject
Then how many looked like they were violently murdered?
Or did they all have the same injuries? I didn't get that close when I was down there.

So there were no white-haired children among the dead.
[ That doesn't make them the murderers, though. They're children. D'Artagnan's going to resist that implication as much as he can. ]
When you say defensive, what do you mean? Could an animal have done it?
no subject
No children at all. All the bodies were adult, humanoid.
Could an animal have done it? Anything is possible D'Artagnan but given the wound patterns, particularly the cranial damage and the neat way the bodies were set in rows, in my opinion, no.
no subject
Then what would be your guess? You're a doctor. Were there marks made by weapons?

Something human or something smart enough to opt for ambushes and blows to the head to take them out, is my assumption at least. Beyond that, it's hard to be sure.
no subject
I haven't seen any humans here but those children. If they're even human.
Aside from us, of course.
no subject
You always find such delightful things in the tunnels, Adrien. I don't suppose either of you recognised any of them?
no subject
I resemble that remark.
I won't speak for Ginko but I didn't. There was nothing familiar about any of them.
no subject
Ginko said recently deceased. How recently? Before we got here, or after?

Nothing recognizable to me either, at least when it comes to the more recent of the deceased. It's anybody's guess with the older ones though, considering the state of many of them, but the timing assures us that it's none of our number at least.
