DAY 129 | HOUR 36:02 | TO: ALL
CALLING: AMBER
TO: ALL
[ Have a joint message from your resident chatterboxes: ]
Did everyone get their surprise gifts? Sweet, isn't it. But don't you wonder who they're from? Why are we here and will we ever leave? [ A beat. ] We're in the company of traitors if you haven't realized. Former crew of the Almina. What does that make us?
[ Then here comes Sebastian, who helpfully pipes up with the sort of smooth clarity his voice always has. And also a bit of humor, in this case. ]
Well, I do doubt that our stay here is completely coincidental... Though what it makes us, I would not personally be able to say. It is a name that has come up a few times, but I suppose it is only because such traitorous activities are rather notable, even to another crew. [ He sighs gently, then adds: ] In any case, I hope the gifts are not cursed. Or should I worry about them being blessed, rather?
[ Amber giggles like this is your everyday morning show before speaking up: ] Blessed might be worse, seeing the churches here. But I wonder if we have the answers already, only we haven't put it together. So let's put it together. What we found: a concrete shed under the tallest tower marked with a green X. That seems to be what generates its electricity. The light at the top glows green for one hour every 20 hours. Your turn, Sebastian.
In addition, I happened to go on a particularly interesting expedition and found that the creatures inhabiting the tunnels underground were a bit more than they seemed. A particularly brutish one made us rather inclined to take a closer look, and, well. [ He pauses, and you can almost hear the shrug in his voice. ] It was clear there was a bit more at work, to put it simply. There were many bones deep in those caverns, and the skeletons there had what I do believe to be wing bones sawn off their backs. It brings a certain image to mind, does it not?
[ There was also something else very interesting, but for that, Sebastian will want a bit more given. It's a particularly juicy tidbit, so he doesn't want to give that one up so easily.
Amber pretends like she doesn't know what he's on about. ] Spooky --Hey, you said my gift looks like a dragon's something. What is it?
[ He laughs ] Ah, you really did not know? I thought it was meant to resemble a p—
[ There goes the three-minute mark right at the most vital part of the post. You've been spared from a dick joke, Neheda. You're welcome. ]
[ OOC: TL;DR this is an information sharing post to help characters figure out Aqada's mysteries! Threadjack to your heart's content! ]

That is a shame, then. You must find life in this crew very difficult, considering there is roughly twice as many men as women, then.

Anyone actually talk to the other Almina recruits?
[ jack did. it was a severely unsettling experience, and he's not really sure what to take from it. anyway - ]
Dave Strider figured out that Time is stalled here, and seems like it's decaying. [ a brief pause ] We tried figuring that out. Nothing really came from it.
[ except maybe they sped up the decay some, oops. he's not really sure, okay, he was just there to look pretty and call a mechanic. ]
no subject
Time? [ Oh, that tickles her fancy. ] Time isn't alive. It can't decay. Unless it's slowing to a stop and wouldn't that be a good thing?

...anyway, speaking of spooky, I'm fairly sure the general creepiness and strange phenomena make the 'haunted' part obvious. I don't think this place knows how to pick one kind of weird and stick with it.

FROM: skywalker.luke@cdc.org
Do the creatures in the underground seem intelligent to you?

That is the question, is it not? The best guess would be the CDC itself, though if it is any more specific than that, I do not know.
[ There's a pause, the sound of shifting as if he's shrugging. ]
But no, not particularly. Based on the ones that I fought, I would venture to guess they were, but it is long gone.

did you figure out why the tower light glows green sometimes or is that still an unknown semi ominous function
no subject
That's still an unknown semi ominous function, I'm afraid. It may be a beacon. There may be something inside the concrete shed but I wasn't keen on leaving lasting marks on the tower. [ A beat. ] You're Strider, right? Dave. What did you think about the time?

Funny you should mention the churches. Some of us went poking around beneath a Church of Light.
[ Anyone who'd passed by those would have noticed how dangerous they were. Sturmhond could never resist playing with mechanics like that. ]
There were quite a lot of traps, but we worked out how to deactivate them, and when we did, well. We found something. Well, several things - it turns out the Churches of Light are full of gemstones. You'll find some, if you go to look - none of the traps should be working now. But that's not all.
There was a well of water beneath the churches, apparently connected to all of them. It rushed out. We collected as much as we could before it ran dry, thinking that it was ordinary water. As it turns out, it's more than that. It's water that heals, and - apparently - makes powers stronger, if you have them. A small amount seems to be enough, so with that in mind, we'd like to share. Anyone who'd like some is welcome. We're in that Ikea place, if you'd like to get a bottle.
Spread the word, there's enough to go around. We'll be leaving a supply with Medical, as well.
no subject
That sounds like water from my world. The Angel of Light and Healing magic has an oasis to His name, but it's tough to find 'cause it's never in the same place twice. Can I see it? The water I mean.
Oh and uh... there's a lot of gems? I can enchant those with fire magic if anybody wants. Maybe I could trade you some more enchantments for a vial of that water, Sturmhond?

If they were cursed we'd probably have some signs by now. Skin changing colors, arms falling off... More arms falling off, should correct that, considering our crew. Didn't find anything along the lines of the skeletons when I was underground, though. Circuitry, water, monstrosities, fun times.

Will you tell me about the circuitry, Garrus? I wonder if there's a way to fix the sky.
