CALLING: STARK, ANTHONY

Assuming all of you remember back on Aqada when we had Russian blasting on the sound speakers. It was all ominous, for a while? Like being immersed in a Joseph McCarthy fever dream after watching Dr. Strangelove?

Right. Me and two very lovely assistants tried to stick a pin in the source, which unfortunately, we didn't get. Little hitch with a planar anomaly happening between Aqada's universe and another one--think of it like a wormhole.
[No audible change in his tone there, though there is an unnatural break in the current of his word vomit.] Or a shortcut between space and time. The foreign signals were coming in through that, and then hiding inside the local frequencies from Aqada's towers.

The good news is we figured out something with the numbers. ...If one of you would like to chime in, at any point.

What, it is my turn now?

Unless you'd rather pass it over to Bucky, or my imaginary friend. Or just Bucky. That'd be good.

[A bit of an impatient sound is heard. That's Bucky. He identified the numbers that 'don't count' which lead to the realization that they're coordinates, not a message. But he doesn't want to explain anything in this message, assuming these two could handle it.]

Good point. They are places. Locations. Coordinates. Some numbers, they are distractions, do not count. Some actually mean something.

Pipe up, Bucky, you're being recorded.

[Silence.]

Because no one understands neolithic grunting.

[Bucky kicks Tony's chair over and addresses their third member.] Send out the coordinates, Niko.

[A couple seconds after Niko sends the text, Bucky doesn't waste time wrapping this up.] The coordinates meant nothing before. But on this planet, they point to these locations.

[Bucky now sends a text of his own.]

[To Tony, mainly:] Are we done?

[A sharp hiss of air being drawn into lungs and then Tony's voice:] What Binky said. Those of you that came from earth--one of the many earths--this should be looking very familiar by now.

[ This entry is in full audio, and comes with a transcript. Why? Because whoever's alerting all of the the Neheda crew's devices speaks at a really high speed. ]

ALRIGHT LOSERS, listen up! First of all I'm promoted to officer to this crew which means everyone who ever said that I couldn't make it gets to eat their words like right now. Second, I'm gonna be running this crew for a while, and you don't have a choice but to listen to me, and the first thing we're doing is fixing this sad mess of a crew by moving people around and actually work you to do your real job! You've been so protected all this time it's a wonder you got anything done so from now on I'm moving a bunch of you off your current teams and if you've got a problem with the choice feel free to quit at any time so we can collect your retirement fee.

Here's the list!

OOC CUT for length. )

Did you get that? Good, 'cause I'm not repeating it and this comes with a transcript anyway so you can just read off that and figure out where you're supposed to go and ohhh yeah there's something else.

Warriorhead and Armada are retired. PSYCHE! Just kidding, they finished their contract, they had a very short one all things considered so now they're starting a new life somewhere else or something, I don't really care. They're gone. To commemorate their leaving, I've decided with my official powers to disintegrate one of the teams and replace them with a new one. Say goodbye to Orange, say hello to YELLOW! I love the color yellow, if you don't like it you can keep it to yourself.

And finally, click this link and log in. That's an order.

This is so much fun we're gonna do so many things together you're gonna love me, bye!

CALLING: ARBUCKAL, ADRIEN

[ Though it’s Adrien’s ID that comes up, the first voice that comes across belongs to Ginko. ]

It seems we have some trouble lurking around the station. The tunnel we arrived in shows signs of recent activity. Someone or something has dragged off that exit sign, though there were more alarming changes as well.

[ When it comes to this topic, his tone adopts a grimness that he seldom takes on. ]

Most notably that it now contains a few more bodies than there were previously. Many of them are quite recently deceased, and our best estimates indicate that they may have died just prior to our arrival.

[ The solemn words are followed by a pause and the familiar shuffling of the blackglass. Adrien’s voice pipes up next.

As is typical with the doctor, he sounds grim and gets straight to the point. ]

Some of the bodies show evidence of extensive defensive wounds; suggesting they fought hard. From the patterns of broken bones, there are also indicators that at least some, if not all were ambushed from behind. The damage to some of the corpses was too extensive to get an accurate picture.

[ There is a brief pause before his next words. ]

All the dead, were adults.

[ He’ll pause again, perhaps looking to Ginko to see if the other man has anything further to add, before ending the call with a simple. ]

There’s no way to tell if what we found down here has anything to do with any of the other recent oddness, but we thought everybody should be made aware of the situation.

[It starts with a sudden brightness. The station progressively gets brighter, and brighter, but along with it comes the rapid decay of the surroundings. Even the people living in the station. Bloaters begin crawling up and out of the underground, suddenly quicker than has become familiar, and everything that is powered by electricity but has been abandoned is working as they should once more.

Those know what they did can claim full responsibility for their actions. Later, though. In the meantime, have a creepily chipper message — from an ID that shouldn't be active anymore.]

CALLING: AMBER
TO: ALL

[ Have a joint message from your resident chatterboxes: ]

Did everyone get their surprise gifts? Sweet, isn't it. But don't you wonder who they're from? Why are we here and will we ever leave? [ A beat. ] We're in the company of traitors if you haven't realized. Former crew of the Almina. What does that make us?

[ Then here comes Sebastian, who helpfully pipes up with the sort of smooth clarity his voice always has. And also a bit of humor, in this case. ]

Well, I do doubt that our stay here is completely coincidental... Though what it makes us, I would not personally be able to say. It is a name that has come up a few times, but I suppose it is only because such traitorous activities are rather notable, even to another crew. [ He sighs gently, then adds: ] In any case, I hope the gifts are not cursed. Or should I worry about them being blessed, rather?

[ Amber giggles like this is your everyday morning show before speaking up: ] Blessed might be worse, seeing the churches here. But I wonder if we have the answers already, only we haven't put it together. So let's put it together. What we found: a concrete shed under the tallest tower marked with a green X. That seems to be what generates its electricity. The light at the top glows green for one hour every 20 hours. Your turn, Sebastian.

In addition, I happened to go on a particularly interesting expedition and found that the creatures inhabiting the tunnels underground were a bit more than they seemed. A particularly brutish one made us rather inclined to take a closer look, and, well. [ He pauses, and you can almost hear the shrug in his voice. ] It was clear there was a bit more at work, to put it simply. There were many bones deep in those caverns, and the skeletons there had what I do believe to be wing bones sawn off their backs. It brings a certain image to mind, does it not?

[ There was also something else very interesting, but for that, Sebastian will want a bit more given. It's a particularly juicy tidbit, so he doesn't want to give that one up so easily.

Amber pretends like she doesn't know what he's on about. ]
Spooky --Hey, you said my gift looks like a dragon's something. What is it?

[ He laughs ] Ah, you really did not know? I thought it was meant to resemble a p—

[ There goes the three-minute mark right at the most vital part of the post. You've been spared from a dick joke, Neheda. You're welcome. ]

[ OOC: TL;DR this is an information sharing post to help characters figure out Aqada's mysteries! Threadjack to your heart's content! ]

[ typically, fox would do this as text, as she likes to be less personal with things, but as it is, she's half lying under the dash of a car in one of the auto dealerships, tugging wires out from the casing as she goes about hot wiring a few different vehicles. so, audio. ]

The locals don't seem to like us fucking with the cars out in the streets, but there's a few dealerships with no one creeping around to give the stink eye if you touch their shit.

[ that, and, most of the cars out in the streets are all rundown and pathetic looking. starting with a new model is easier. a moment later, there will be the rev of an engine as fox successfully gets the thing started. car-jacking is kind of her favorite pasttime. and the subsequent absolute wrecking of hijacked cars, but she's keeping that bit under control for now. ]

Wouldn't hurt to get a few of these running, have the option for a convoy. Don't know about you, but if those things come crawling out of the sewers, I'd rather run them over than waste ammo. [ she's just saying. all zombie movies need a good demo-car scene. anyway, ahem. ] If nothing else, there's a lot of salvage we're wasting by leaving it.

If we can get it back to the Neheda, that'll be a good stock of scrap metal.

[ fox out. she'll be hanging out at one of the dealerships, so if you want to help her out with recreating mad max on aqada, hit her up here, or you can action thread her over on her top level. ]

if you HAVE TO go outside when it's bad try to stick to higher ground! there will be less sand and it will be easier to see. make sure you wear goggles or at least protect your eyes no matter what

cover your nose and mouth too! some cloth like a bandana works fine. if you have water to spare getting the cloth a little wet makes it easier to breathe through
