Willey Reveley's proposal to straighten the Thames and for existing major meanders passing the Rotherhithe, Isle of Dogs and North Greenwich peninsulars to be converted to sluice/lock-controlled wet docks, as the London Docks. As the footnotes say "submitted in Parliament in 1796 and declared novel, grand and ......ing" [semi-illegible]. It was seriously considered by Parliament but not implemented.
