[edit]DescriptionPancake day. Performances of amateur artists.jpg |
English: Pancake day. Performances of amateur artists, Kirov. Maslenitsa is an East Slavic traditional holiday celebrated during the week before Lent, which has preserved in its ritual basis a number of elements of pre—Christian Slavic mythology. In the folk calendar of the Eastern Slavs, the holiday marks the border of winter and spring, as well as Meat-eating and Great Lent. An analogue of carnival in European countries. The date of Maslenitsa changes every year depending on the date of Easter celebration. Traditional attributes of the national celebration of Maslenitsa — stuffed Maslenitsa, fun, sleigh rides, festivities; pancakes and tortillas.
