Description
Deutsch: Alter Friedhof, Schwaz; der Friedhof östlich der Stadtpfarrkirche wurde bereits im Mittelalter angelegt und 1859/60 nach Plänen von Josef von Stadl mit neugotischen Arkaden versehen. Nach Errichtung des neuen Friedhofs in St. Martin wurde er 1960 aufgelassen und später zu einer öffentlichen Parkanlage umgestaltet. Die Anlage ist von einer Mauer mit zahlreichen, zum Teil spätgotischen Eingängen umschlossen. An der Südwestecke der Kirche steht ein repräsentativer Torbau mit spitzbogiger Laibung und hoher, von zwei Türmchen flankierter Giebelwand. In den Arkaden haben sich etliche Grabdenkmäler erhalten. Im Zentrum der Anlage stehen das vermutlich aus dem 18. Jahrhundert stammende Friedhofskreuz und die Totenleuchte.
