| Description |
English: Foz do Rio Paraíba do Sul em São João da Barra, Norte Fluminense. Em verde escuro restinga, nas cristas de praia arenosas com - de 5000 anos. Em verde claro brejo, quando a praia sofreu erosão. Praias atuais, desmatamentos e área urbana em branco. Em 1950, com a transposição do Rio Paraíba para o Guandú e a retirada de areia do rio para construção civil e outros fatores, a crista mais recente, a ponta de Atafona, ao sul da foz, passou a sofrer erosão marinha intensa, que continua até hoje. Mais detalhes no painel explicativo do DRM RJ, (link abaixo), com fotos aéreas anotadas com vetores da linha de praia nas décadas de 1970 e 2000 / Paraíba do Sul River Mouth at São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro State. In dark green, sandy coastal plain vegetation "restinga", at old beach berm crests with less than 5000 years. Swamps in light green, at low areas created when beach suffered erosion. Beachs, deforested and urban areas in white. Paraíba River diversion in the 50s, large scale sand mining and other factors, caused intense beach erosion at Atafona point, S of the mouth, happening until today.
