Description
Italiano: Crescita di Klebsiella pneumoniae CRE (Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae) da emocoltura positiva su MacConkey agar. Le carbapenemasi sono enzimi in grado di idrolizzare un ampio spettro di antibiotici e di determinare un meccanismo di resistenza che può essere trasferito da un microrganismo all'altro. Esistono diversi tipi di carbapenemasi: il più comune è denominato KPC (Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemasi). Una minoranza di ceppi, invece, produce la carbapenemasi NDM (New Delhi metallo-betalattamasi). In Toscana, tra novembre 2018 e maggio 2019, è stato segnalato proprio un focolaio di Klebsiella pneumoniae NDM.
English: Growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae CRE (Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae) from positive blood culture on MacConkey agar. Carbapenemases are enzymes that can hydrolyze a broad spectrum of antibiotics and determine a resistance mechanism that can be transferred from one microorganism to another. There are different types of carbapenemases: the most common is called KPC (Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemasi). A minority of strains, on the other hand, produces NDM carbapenemase (New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase). In Tuscany, an NDM outbreak was reported between November 2018 and May 2019.
