Description
English: Various aircraft parked on the deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62) on 12 December 1983. The Independence was positioned off the coast of Lebanon in support of U.S. Marines assigned to the multinational peacekeeping force in Beirut. Visible are:

- Lockheed S-3A Viking (BuNo 160600) from Anti-Submarine Squadron VS-28 Hukkers;
- two Grumman EA-6B Prowler (BuNo 158649, 160433) from Electronic Countermeasures Squadron VAQ-131 Lancers;
- two Grumman A-6E Intruder from Attack Squadron VA-175 Thunderbolts;
- A Grumman F-14A Tomcat from Fighter Squadron VF-32 Swordsmen.

All squadrons were assigned to Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6) aboard the Independence for a deployment to Grenada and the Mediterranean Sea from 18 October 1983 to 11 April 1984.
