DescriptionAngels Gate light.jpg |
English: The Los Angeles Lighthouse, also known as Angel's Gate, is the only lighthouse of its kind in California. Built to withstand heavy seas, its unique structure is steel framed; the first two floors of which are steel plated. The solid design was challenged in a five day storm in the 1970s. At the end of the heavy storm, Angel's Gate remained standing, suffering only a slight list from the heavy waves that crashed upon it. The 73-foot lighthouse is located at the mounth of Los Angeles' Long Beach Port, the third largest container port in the world. |
