a Roman or Saxon glass bead
Description
English: Roman or Anglo-Saxon green glass bead. The glass has tiny air bubbles throughout which are clearly visible when held up to the light, these can also been seen on the outside edge of the bead. There are faint rings around the circumference of the bead suggesting it may have been finished on a lathe. The bead has a central circular perforation measuring 4.8mm in diameter. The bead weighs 3.49g and measures 17.57mm in diameter and 8.82mmin thickness.
