User Sarah 1985 was already warned two and a half years ago that it is not allowed to overwrite image files with completely different images. Two years ago, she was warned again. After another violation, her user account was blocked for a week. Now she has become active again and continues exactly the same misconduct. As the photos are on the subject of sexuality and the false images she uploads appear immediately in our articles, which can be very irritating, there is a particular urgency to this matter. Since she or he avoids giving credit to the true author of the photo in this way, it cannot be ruled out that some photographs were published against the will of the woman who was photographed and that personality rights are violated.

The fact that Sarah reverted the latest overwriting shows that she commits the violations deliberately, perhaps out of an inner compulsion, and then reverts it so that no action is taken against her user account. So intent is evident here. This is real vandalism. The effect was also very unpleasant for me personally, because after her renewed vandalism, which caused her wrong photo to appear in an article I had edited, I tried to get rid of it by resetting it. As a result, I now have photos in my list that I don't want in there at all. I don't want those pictures in my files. She didn't reset it immediately, she reset it after 52 minutes. That was a clear provocation. In doing so, she abuses the placating effect of visual sexual stimuli on male adminstrators. He used sock puppets to manipulate the progress of the discussion in order to imply that there is more than just one voice in support of his position. The sock account was blocked indefinitely, the sock master for 1 month. Nobody else took his position and this discussion felt asleep. In order to push his position forward, he started the similar behaviour against another similar category (edit) which he randomly picked and opened up a similar discussion. I reverted this and redirected it to the current (still unclosed) discussion. I do consider this to be another step of trolling in favour of a single position. A longer block than 1 month should be warranted as well as a permanent topic ban on sports categories.

Why should I be dissatisfied with how the discussion went about the category Selina Egle at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics? It is more likely that you are dissatisfied with the course. The discussion is still open and therefore not yet concluded. This discussion is not just about the category Selina Egle at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics, but about the entire category system under the category 2020 Winter Youth Olympics sportspeople. Because the discussion, as I said, is not over yet, I have held back with editing in this category system. In contrast, Marcus Cyrus created the category Barış Oduncu at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics during the ongoing discussion. That is a clear affront to the discussion, and that is why I put the category up for discussion. That's my right isn't it? I also find it very amusing that Marcus Cyrus described me as a “destructive person”. I don't think that a category discussion where all your arguments were in a way refuted which urged you to use sock puppets to claim that there is more than just your single voice should hinder anyone from creating valid categories (as multiple times explained there with myriads of examples). Certainly, these and many more categories within this logic will be created. This is a community project, please do accept that people create valid categories in another way as you would create them. The discussion is still open because you derailed it plenty of times, get caught up in inconsistencies over and over again, did not understand the explanations how the category system on Commons works (like having categories for images of an event as well as for sorting files by perople), and repeated your lack of understanding numerous times. Certainly, nobody wants to read this discussion. Nobody wants to make a step into the mud you left behind using sock puppets to manipulate the discussion. I cannot close the original CfD as I opened it when the category was write-protected and promised to stay neutral on that matter. But moving on to other categories before the first discussion is closed appears to me disruptive. Xxlfussel, it is time to drop the stick and back slowly away from the horse carcass. Despite being the one who gave the second warning to the user, I'd have to disagree to this block as premature. Unless I'm missing something here, like they created a page that is OOS or edited another page and placed their article again (which according to xtools' edit counter, they haven't), the user stopped placing their article when I reverted them. I'd assume good faith and say that they are most likely lost. Hence why I opted to give them another warning and advice instead of reporting them here. I think our interpretations of spam and vandalism is different here. I believe it's unfair to block them under the "spamming" rationale, because I don't think they are promoting. If they are, they wouldn't take a long break after they got reverted on 28 November 2020. I don't think their edits are vandalism either, because there's no malicious intent (it's not like they removed someone's discussion and replaced it with their article).
Now if they had done it again after I warned them, then I'd fully support a block. But that doesn't seem the case here. Blocks should be thought of as a last resort action, especially in the case of newbies. pandakekok9 02:33, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

"A. Sturdivant" is back

Several users have already been reported and banned for editing photo captions to add obviously fake credits. It seems like the people behind this have created a new set of accounts:

The above are only the ones I found after a cursory search - numerous accounts all adding credits for "A. Sturdivant" and other photographers who did not take the image in question. Reported off-wiki by the photographer of File:Running_Man_Kyle_Cassidy.jpg (which has since been reverted) - apparently, after the caption is edited, a company called "Green Cap Marketing" emails web publishers using the photos asking for royalties. TRANSCODE STATUS

I wish to report this change l noticed on transcode status. The BITRATE displayed for about two days now becomes bigger when one wants to download. Eg 160kbps will become 2 or 4 mb. Hi, and welcome. While the size of the transcoded file in kB or MB does increase with the bitrate, that size is not reported in the "Transcode status" of any file description page. An enhancement request to show the size, as well as the resolution, was filed almost 8 years ago as phab:T49488. You can get an estimate of the size by multiplying the bitrate by the number of seconds, for example a 102.4 second video transcoded at 160kbps will result in a file that is 16384 kb, 2048 kB, or 2.00 MB in size.   • If this report was placed on perhaps the "wrong" page, that doesn't change the underlying issue. A1Cafel posts a continual stream of deletion requests and speedy deletions, faster than any other editors can review them. As a result, many of their speedy requests are actioned automatically, without any further study. They post enough of them on obvious valid grounds that overall they've become untouchable as "doing useful work here". Yet many of their deletions are without basis: Kamala Harris B0UoxZlN 400x400.jpg is against our long-established practice that we don't delete "superseded" formats. The deletions complained of today, File:2020-04-28 Solidarity for COVID-19-helpers Timor-Leste.jpg, File:Ministério do Petróleo e Minerais.jpg, many others, are factually wrong.
These were done as speedy deletion tags, so there would be no further review before deletion. To simplify their effort in warning the uploader of this very large number of deletions, they bulked together their notification. Yet to dispute these deletions, the uploader has had to go through and convert each one to a separate DR, then hope that other editors might become involved. This is all according to clear policy and practice, yet it's also a massive leveraging of the ease of deletion and difficulty of resisting this, in order to stack the deck against the uploader and in favour os summary deletion.
Why are they for deletion at all? Because they're government-issued images, under a blanket free licence as a result. This is clear and without serious dispute. If it was to be disputed, that would require a DR and not an automatic deletion. The nominator's supposed reason of "no source" is untrue and we need to stop treating speedy deletion requests based on untruths as valid! I can see why such a bulk action would find itself labelled as vandalism.
Here are some further uploads from such a government source: File:George E. Glass and Manuel Heitor wearing mask.jpg, File:Yuri Kim and Etilda Gjonaj wearing masks.jpg. Should these be deleted too? Should these be DR'ed as needing addditional OTRS permission, as for Andrew Hastie Orignal (2)? Should they be tagged for deletion for that other currently fashionable and policy-invalid reason, "small image, no EXIF"? No, because the difference is that these were uploads by A1Cafel. They are tagging other editor's work for summary deletion without discussion, yet uploading images with the same copyright status themselves.
These images could be better described. If they're government-sourced images, they presumably have a source URL and adding that to the file description page would make their recording a lot clearer. A better editor would have discussed that with the uploader, explained the benefits, maybe even helped do some of the legwork themself. A1Cafel prefers to simply schedule automated deletion. They do not (ever!) discuss with other editors. They are aware of this AN posting, but have chosen to ignore it. The sum total of their talk page interactions is in issuing threats to block new editors: User_talk:Valentim0106#You_may_be_blocked_soon. These threats are empty (A1Cafel has no power to block them), deliberately intimidating and were issued at the same time as files were listed for discussion, without even waiting for any other editors to discuss whether the files ought to be deleted, let alone whether an editor's actions are block-worthy!
There is a problem here. Maybe not one of vandalism, as we define that, but certainly one of disruption and bullying of other editors. Commons needs to stop that, although I doubt that anything will come of this; A1Cafel is seen as too "useful" in terms of removing this bothersome content. You post the link here. Why do I have to search? You show us the direct source here. Furthermore, how can a country use ten different flags at the Olympics over a span of three decades? There is only one flag that was used and that is the state flag. Camera footage may show different hue of red on the screen and this is only due to the contrast/color recolution of your tv screen. Their edits here are restoring February 2020 edits from User:86.152.126.100, which were reverted as vandalism at the time and resulted in a block for that IP. I raised a Wikipedia SPI against the same IP yesterday. (Not sure if this is the correct place to raise a sockpuppet report, COM:SOCK redirects to a checkuser request page, which is not what I'm asking for.)

@Taivo: well, I admit some of the edits is not obvious vandalism, but revert to a worse version, I withdraw my request. What he did is just revert the image to an old, out of date version. But some of the edits are obvious vandalism, for example:
  1. File:China Hong Kong location map.svg: w:Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge has opened in 2018, an obvious artificial island has been built at the east of the airport (google map). [User:Nv7801] updated the coastline, but [User:Turbo Slayer 2021] reverted to an old version.
  2. File:Visa policy of Hong Kong.png: Hong Kong government allows PRC passport holder who are in transit through Hong Kong to and from another country or territory may be granted a stay of seven days on each landing without the prior need to obtain an entry permit[11], [User:Whisper of the heart] has uploaded it. Hong Kong government has extended Belarus visa-free access to 30 days [12] in April 2019. [User:Twofortnights] updated it. But [User:Turbo Slayer 2021] reverted all this updates.
  3. File:Visa policy of Russia.png: [User:Turbo Slayer 2021] reverted the updates of electronic visa, thats makes all the electronic visa color gone (I don't know why do this).

Again, you are the one that is distorting what happened. First it was you started creating several redirects like moving "Linha Internacional de Barca d’Alva a La Fregeneda e a Salamanca", (name that is the one in the portuguese Wikipedia and has several sources to back it up) and continued to make several redirects to either names that were incorrect or unsourced. Every one of those created by me redirects are backed up by sources, but you continue with your campaign despite all. First, in the portuguese Wikipedia and several months ago, you tried to say that this line (between Portugal and Spain) was built and paid solely by spanish state and companie, when i provided several spanish and portuguese sources that this line was paid, built, maintained and operated for decades solely by the portuguese state and companies. The portuguese article is clear on itself of what its real story was and its discussion page is elucidative of the problems that this user has in using correctly sources and what they say, like claiming that the construction and operating sindicate was spanish (when it was called the Sindicato Portuense, i.e. from Porto, Portugal) or uusing a newspaper sourced from a blog that had 3 newspapers about this line, where he quoted the wrong newspaper and the wrong year and it was me that had to correct this basic error. This is not vandalism. I guess Wcr1993 simply didn't aware that photos taken in China need to follow FOP requirements and keep the FOP template. You should notify Wcr1993 and wait for his response before reporting vandalism here. Otherwise it is very rude behavior and it is against AGF. Btw, I'd like to point out that Eti15TrSf is a rude and problematic user. He repeatedly reverted my good edits without reasons on many Shanghai Metro articles on zhwp, many of them have been reverted back. And he also made personal attacks to me on enwp, meta and zhwp, see (1)(2) content removed by admin due to personal attacks. Moreover he also made personal attacks on Commons, see (a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(f). IMO Eti15TrSf usually create more problems than solve. Again, the same person and with the same baseless complain. Did he not learn with or forgot about, just in the last month about the same complain here and or in Commons:Administrators' noticeboard, where other user said that "There's nothing wrong with keeping redirection categories where users and readers will find this useful, e.g. Category:Crows". This user is constantly trying to distort " what happened. First it was him that started creating several redirects like moving "Linha Internacional de Barca d’Alva a La Fregeneda e a Salamanca", (name that is the one in the portuguese Wikipedia and has several sources to back it up) and continued to make several redirects to either names that were incorrect or unsourced.
Every one of those created by me redirects are backed up by sources, but he continues with his campaign despite all. First, in the portuguese Wikipedia and several months ago, he tried to say that this line (between Portugal and Spain) was built and paid solely by spanish state and companies, when i provided several spanish and portuguese sources that this line was paid, built, maintained and operated for decades solely by the portuguese state and companies. The portuguese article is clear on itself of what its real story was and its discussion page is elucidative of the problems that this user has in using correctly sources and what they say, like claiming that the construction and operating sindicate was spanish (when it was called the Sindicato Portuense, i.e. from Porto, Portugal) or uusing a newspaper sourced from a blog that had 3 newspapers about this line, where he quoted the wrong newspaper and the wrong year and it was me that had to correct this basic error."
Why this obsession of him? I dont know, but he is the one that started and continues with this tug of war of trying to delete this redirects and his third attempt of forum shopping to block me, even after i tried to remember him of previous discussions. Tm (talk) 00:29, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Riley, there are two things which are wrong with the map.
First one is Požega and Virovitica county in Slavonia, as it's shown in the source. This version would be "the most faitfull" to the provided source.
As for second one, the borders of (southern) Croatia, source should be this map. That border is similar to a 12th century border, as shown in this map.

This was my second report regarding the same issue as I believe user has the same pattern from en.wiki regarding the POV and pushing it across several files here. I don't really mind the uploads the user makes, but the overwrites of files that are widely used across many projects are little problematic as there was no effort in referencing those changes. Examples are here: File:Balkans925.png, File:Srpsko_carstvo 1360.png, File:Croatia 1260.png. As for the comments they made, I can support this version regarding the file in question. I have noticed user's nominations long ago, but I thought they are based on some substantial reasons! If he nominates solely because of absence of metadata, it is disruptive editing. Absence of metadata means that the photo was edited and nothing more. Any serious photographer edits his photos, often with saving in different file formats which don't support EXIF. There can be thousands of stolen photos with metadata as well as thousands of own photos without it. If absence of metadata was a substantial reason for doubts, images could be nominated by bot. As long as metadata is not explicitly required from the uploaders, we can't delete images solely because of its absence. I ask administrators to carefully look through files deleted due to Kharkivian's nominations and undelete these ones which lack substantial reasons for doubts. Reason for reporting: A new user keep editing and tagging my uploads for no valid reason and seem to try to get them deleted. I am not sure what I should do. I have reverted his edits. Please see: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Domicwilkins . The account seems to have been created today (25. May 2021) and instantly started to edit my uploads. This does not seem good faith to me. I am happy for any advice and for action against this possible vandalism-only account. It seems that it is a sock account, because shortly after my revet, another account started to threat me (see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Landroving_Linguist). It seems the main problem is a picture "Afroasiatic language tree", which is based on an picture from Ecyclopedia Britannica. I am not sure if the claims of the user are true, however, if, I agree to delet the one problematic picture. However, the accusations and threats as well as the use of sock accounts is rather strange and misleading. I am not sure, but someone should check and warn them. Shouldn't it be the other way around? HunanZH uploads files without license. Brittanica.com is copyrighted, see license regulations. Domicwilkins tagged HunanZH's uploads for deletion [37]. --Pp.paul.4 (talk) 13:23, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Most of Hunan's uploads were good and correctly sourced. I nominated two of his uploads for regular deletion and Hunan changed source. The decision not to block Hunan was correct. Taivo (talk) 08:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
