Could you please make a correction to the Syrian civil war map? Currently the map is showing Al-Saba Biyar, the Zaza checkpoint, Rujm Mamur (south of Zaza) and the half a dozen locations to the north of Zaza (along the highway to Palmyra) as rebel-held. There have been no sources confirming the recapture of these areas by the rebels, while previously they were all confirmed to have been captured by the government. Furthermore, multiple sources have confirmed that the Damascus-Palmyra highway (which runs through Zaza) has been reopened by the government, the Wikipedia map contradicts this. So could you please mark these areas as government-held? :Its almost as it should be. You marked the area around Al-Saba Biyar as government-held now, but the Zaza checkpoint (which is the junction that leads to Damascus, Palmyra and the Iraqi border) is shown to be on the edge of government territory instead of inside it. The Rujm Mamur area (south of Zaza) is also still shown to be rebel-held (there's a marker for it on our map) and the four markers north of Zaza (left of the highway toward Palmyra) are also still shown to be rebel-held. You can use this map for comparison and clarification . In any case, thank you for all your hard work and contribution! :) EkoGraf (<span class="signature-talk"></span>) 23:51, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:VanBB.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Changing my copyrighted maps into low quality maps under the claim "update"

I have been notified that you are changing my maps which are copyrighted to my name, for no reason and turning them into low quality ones. And you use the claim "update" as a justification. Since there are no updates to the elections of 7 years ago, there is no reason for changing the quality map work of mine to MS Paint maps.

I have reverted your edits. This is a friendly warning for you to stop what you are trying to do. Being persistent on continuing this can get you a ban from Wikipedia. Furthermore, changing copyrighted work and degrade them for no reason, and without permission can get you legal troubles.

Have a nice evening. Berkaysnklf (talk), 00:26, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ESC 2017 Map

Please redownload the ESC 2017 map for further edits as your version is missing some parts of Greenland and Tasmania so it does not have to be corrected every time you update the map. Thanks! --Avis28 (talk) 18:47, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Emreculha!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

See Help:HotCat, and Help:Cat-a-lot for some tools that can make easier categorization process.XXN, 12:35, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Syrian Civil War map
