Last week, the Colle

Last week, the College of Education hosted the very first in-person Educators Rising Hawaii State Competition where students from 12 different high schools competed in 8 different competitions at the Imin Conference Center at the UH Mānoa campus. In addition, students participated in a UH Mānoa College of Education experience day and learn about becoming an educator through COE pathways and student experiences.

We’re so proud of all the participants, congratulations on all your hard work leading up to these days!

We’re going through a load of great content currently so stay turned 👀, but for now we wanted to express
a great big MAHALO 🤙 to all the HIDOE high school participants, teacher leaders, teachers of the year, judges, exhibitors, educational partners, volunteers, staff, and sponsors for making this event possible! 💚

Last year, our #UHMC

Last year, our #UHMCOEAmbassadors held a session at the first ever Hawaii EdRising Competition, where they talked about their experiences, goals, and “whys”. This year, The College of Education is excited to host its second year of the Hawaii state EdRising competition this Thursday and Friday Feb 5-6, 2026!

What is EdRising?
Educators Rising (EdRising) is a national network aimed at inspiring and supporting high school and college students interested in education-related careers. The organization provides training, resources, and hands-on teaching experiences to help prepare further educators.

Under the leadership of the COE Recruitment Specialist, Dr. Janet Kim, and as part of the Project Equal Access grant, the Hawaii EdRising competition is a partnership among the COE, Hawaii Teachers Standards Board (HTSB), Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE), and Hawaii P-20.

The event is a closed event, with 12 High Schools in attendance, competing in 12 different competitions and we can’t wait to see what our aspiring future educators have prepared 🧑‍🏫📚🍎✨!
