Vintage Silver drop ear-rings from Sri Lanka

This is a pair of ear-rings bought by myself in Sri Lanka in the 1990's. I bought them to one day to sell; and they have therefore never been worn. The quality of the Sri Lankan silver craftsmanship is in my opinion the very best there is. The quality of the silver is high (I have had it tested in the past and it always came up above 92.5%, above the requirement to be classed as Sterling silver) and the intricate work of the unique Sri Lankan style is a piece of history in itself. Each bead is entirely crafted by hand, and therefore unique. For the purpose of ear-rings and symmetry, a pair of beads have been chosen for their likeness to each other (however, you can be assured of small differences if you look closely!) Throughout the 1990's I lived and worked in Asia, and had the privilege to work with a wonderful family of silver artisans in Colombo, where this pair of ear-rings were made. These ear-rings will come wrapped in a drawstring bag, made from old and hand woven silk from Cambodia. The silk was originally worn as sarongs in the 70's and 80's.
