A lettuce edge hem is a decorative edge finish that you can do on ruffles, sleeves, dresses and many more and is made with knit fabric. 🧵It is time to get crafty and play around with lettuce hem. And the best part is that all sergers can do this seam, it is just a matter of how you set it up. So let’s go ahead and set up your serger for lettuce hem. ⭐️Step one: Set up your serger Make sure your serger has only 1 needle and it is Right hand positioned. Your stitch length is set to shortest and stitch width to narrowest Disengage stitch finger. Make sure the presser foot pressure is at max. Differential feed is lowered to 0.7 ⭐️Step two:Adjust thread tension Raise your lower looper thread tension by 3 notches or to the max Raise right needle tension by 1 notch You will end up setting your serger up for a rolled hem. Check your serger manual for rolled hem settings. ⭐️Step three: Stretch as you sew Place your fabric under the presser foot and sew a rolled hem by pulling the fabric towards yourself and away from yourself. The more you pull, the more edge will curve up. 💡BTW lettuce hem is perfect for pjs, jersey tops, dresses and leggings, play shorts and even nightgown sewing. 🪡 Happy sewing! 📌Don’t forget to save this reel for quick and easy access when in need. 📩Share this reel with a mom who wants to sew cute clothes for her princess but doesn’t know how to. ✨Hi!
