Clasp works as it should on brooch . Signed Van Dell and 12k gf on brooch (Van Dell USA 1939-1991)The brooch is 5.2cms by 2cms This is an Acrostic Jewellery Brooch which means it spells out a word. The Brooch has different coloured multifaceted open back crystal rhinestones each of which represents a gemstone. The first letter of the each represented gemstone spells out a word . Diamond Emerald Amethyst Ruby Emerald Sapphire Topaz "DEAREST" This type of jewellery was popular with lovers in Victorian times. I have two of these for sale.
