Inflatable stunt pads are used to allow stuntmen to jump from large heights and survive. They achieve this by using the principles of momentum and impulse. Then as he exerts a force on the pad the pad provides a small bit of resistance.Then over the next few seconds as the person keeps falling the pad slowly slows him down to a stop with its gradual resistance. By using the method to gradually slow him down the momentum of the stuntman gradually lessens over time which is what impulse is.
