Liz Cohen Ceramics on Instagram: "Part TWO! Making a platter using a coil attached to a slab. After making a few of these, I'm preferring this method over the traditional way of throwing one from a large chunk of clay. It's much easier on my body, and I feel like I can get bigger forms. There is a lot of potential with this method! I want to make bigger, taller pieces, and attaching coils to create height in this same way is going to be a lot of fun. (That's definitely a next year project 😜) Another thing I like about this method, you don't have to trim the underside of the platter! It's already flat and smooth. You'll still want to trim the bottom edges and sides though. Also, it dries much faster than a regular thrown piece this large, making for faster turnaround times. 👌🏼 Give it a Ceramic Platters With Handles, Throwing Inspiration, Pottery Tips, Coil Pottery, How To Roll, Coil Pots, Ceramic Baking Dish, Ceramic Platter, Pottery Platter
