This moth is found from southern United States to Brazil and in many cultures it is thought to be an omen of death much like the Death's-Head Hawkmoth. I have seen a lot of these moths in person and they do vary quite a bit. However, in my opinion, unless you like blah charcoal brown, the Females are much more interesting than the Males. Males are smaller and darker brown and sometimes show iridescent blue markings…
