A sequential/parallel track selector / Bertolino, F ; Bonazzola, G C ; Bressani, Tullio ; Chiavassa, E ; Costa, S ; Dellacasa, G ; Gallio, M ; Musso, A
A medium speed ( approximately 1 mu s) hardware pre-analyzer for the selection of events detected in four planes of drift chambers in the magnetic field of the Omicron Spectrometer at the CERN SC is described. Specific geometrical criteria determine patterns of hits in the four planes of vertical wires that have to be recognized and that are stored as patterns of '1's in random access memories. [...]

Description and performance of a large spectrometer equipped with proportional chambers / Poinsignon, J (CENS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France)
A large multiparticle spectrometer, equipped with 36000 active wires, is described. It is running in a high-flux secondary beam of the new Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN. [...]

A multi-use cathode cell MWPC / Delpierre, P A ; Bazan, A ; Bonierbal, P ; Diop, A ; Espigat, P ; Herteault, L ; Jobez, J P ; Saget, G ; Saigne, R ; Sotiras, D et al.
Describes a highly flexible modular design for multiwire proportional chambers used in the CERN-NA3 experiment. The authors illustrate this flexibility by describing the transformation of one chamber into a cathode-cell shower detector and giving its performance as such..

Performance of the SPS beam spectrometer chambers under very high fluxes / Placci, Alfredo (CERN) ; Rabany, Michel (CERN) ; Vismara, Giuseppe (CERN)
Five beam spectrometers each consisting of four 100*100 mm/sup 2/, 1 mm wire spacing, multiwire proportional chambers, are operational in the secondary beams of the CERN SPS. To determine the ultimate performance of the chambers and associated electronics, capable of working at a threshold of 0.5 mu A and transmitting signals on 500 m twisted pair cables at rates of 25 MHz/wire, the authors have studied the behaviour of the chambers under very high beam fluxes ( approximately 10/sup 7/ particles/s). Highsp/sub T/ event trigger and processor for the ISR axial field spectrometer / Fabjan, Christian Wolfgang (CERN)
Drift-time information from the central detector and energy deposit from a surrounding hadron calorimeter are used for complex trigger and on-line selection procedures. High-p/sub T/ (p/sub T/>or approximately =5 GeV/c) charged particles and special event topologies can be selected with high efficiency. [...]
