A Compact Inverse Compton Scattering Source Based on X-band Technology and Cavity-enhanced High Average Power Ultrafast Lasers
/ Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Cormier, Eric (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Corsini, Roberto (CERN) ; Dyks, Luke (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Mușat, Vlad (CERN) ; Santarelli, Giorgio (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Stapnes, Steinar (CERN) ; Wang, Ping (CERN) et al.
A high-pulse-current photoinjector followed by a short high-gradient X-band linac and a Fabry-Pérot enhancement cavity are considered as a driver for a compact Inverse Compton Scattering (ICS) source. Using a high-power ultra-short pulse laser operating in burst mode in a Fabry-Pérot enhancement cavity, we show that outcoming photons with a total flux over 10$^{13}$ and energies in the MeV range are achievable. An Efficient Optimisation of a Burst Mode-Operated Fabry-Perot Cavity for Compton Light Sources
/ Mușat, Vlad (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Cormier, Eric (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Santarelli, Giorgio (LP2N, Bordeaux)
The burst mode operation of a Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) allows for the generation of a high-intensity photon beam in inverse Compton scattering (ICS) sources. The geometry and burst mode parameters of the FPC can be optimised to maximise the scattered photon flux. [...]

A Compact Inverse Compton Scattering Source Based on X-Band Technology and Cavity-Enhanced High-Average-Power Ultrafast Lasers

A start-to-end optimisation of CLEAR for an inverse Compton scattering experiment, using RF-Track
/ Musat, Vlad (CERN ; JAI, UK) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Malyzhenkov, Alexander (CERN) ; Aksoy, Avni (CERN)
The CERN Linear Electron Accelerator for Research (CLEAR) has been operating since 2017 as a user facility providing beams for various experiments. We created a start-to-end model of the CLEAR setup in RF-Track, aiming to optimise the CLEAR accelerator as a driver for an X-ray source based on inverse-Compton scattering. [...]

Update of the Tracking Code RF-Track
/ Latina, Andrea (CERN)
During the last couple of years, the RF-Track particle tracking code has seen a tremendous increase in the number of its applications: medical linacs, compact injector electron guns, and positron sources are among the main ones. Following a work of consolidation of its internal structure, new simulation capabilities have been introduced, together with several new effects: arbitrary orientation of elements in space, full element overlap, short- and long-range wakefields, and laser-beam interaction through Compton scattering are the most significant ones. [...]

The Tracking Code RF-Track and Its Application
/ Latina, Andrea (CERN)
RF-Track is a CERN-developed particle tracking code that can simulate the generation, acceleration, and tracking of beams of any species through an entire accelerator, both in realistic field maps and conventional elements. RF-Track includes a large set of single-particle and collective effects: space-charge, beam-beam, beam loading in standing and travelling wave structures, short- and long-range wakefield effects, synchrotron radiation emission, multiple Coulomb scattering in materials, and particle lifetime. Benchmarking of PATH and RF-Track in the Simulation of Linac4
/ Bellodi, Giulia ; Lallement, Jean-Baptiste ; Latina, Andrea ; Lombardi, Alessandra
A benchmarking campaign has been initiated to compare PATH and RF-Track in modelling high-intensity, low-energy hadron beams. The development of extra functionalities in RF-Track was required to handle an unbunched beam from the source and to ease the user interface. [...]

Update of the RF-Track particle tracking code
/ Latina, A (CERN) ; Malyzhenkov, A (CERN) ; Olivares-Herrador, J (CERN ; Valencia U.) ; Aksoy, A (Ankara U. ; CERN)
The tracking code RF-Track has been updated to include a large set of single-particle and collective effects: beam loading in standing and travelling wave structures, coherent and incoherent synchrotron radiation, intra-beam scattering, multiple Coulomb scattering in materials, and particle lifetime. This new set of effects was focused on the simulation of high-intensity machines such as linacs for medical applications. [...]
