Parton Shower Uncertainties with Herwig 7: Benchmarks at Leading Order
/ Bellm, Johannes (Durham U., IPPP ; Durham U.) ; Nail, Graeme (Manchester U. ; Karlsruhe U., ITP) ; Plätzer, Simon (Durham U. ; Durham U., IPPP ; Manchester U.) ; Schichtel, Peter (Durham U., IPPP ; Durham U.) ; Siódmok, Andrzej (CERN ; Cracow, INP)
We perform a detailed study of the sources of perturbative uncertainty in parton shower predictions within the Herwig 7 event generator. We benchmark two rather different parton shower algorithms, based on angular-ordered and dipole-type evolution, against each other. [...]

Spin Correlations in Parton Shower Simulations
/ Richardson, Peter (CERN ; Durham U., IPPP) ; Webster, Stephen (Durham U., IPPP)
Spin correlations are an important, but often neglected, effect in modern Monte Carlo event generators. We show that they can be fully incorporated in Herwig 7 using the algorithm originally proposed by Collins and Knowles in all stages of the event generation process and between the different stages of the event generation. [...]

Herwig 7.2 Release Note
/ Bellm, Johannes (Lund U.) ; Bewick, Gavin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Ferrario Ravasio, Silvia (Durham U., IPPP) ; Gieseke, Stefan (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Grellscheid, David (Bergen U.) ; Kirchgaeßer, Patrick (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Masouminia, Mohammad R. A new release of the Monte Carlo event generator Herwig (version 7.2) is now available. This version introduces a number of improvements, notably: improvements to the simulation of multiple-parton interactions, including diffractive processes; a new model for baryonic colour re-connection; spin correlations in both the dipole and angular-ordered parton showers; improvements to strangeness production; an improved choice of evolution variable in the angular-ordered parton shower; support for generic Lorentz structures in BSM models..

Scale and isolation sensitivity of diphoton distributions at the LHC
/ Gehrmann, Thomas (Zurich U.) ; Glover, Nigel (Durham U., IPPP) ; Huss, Alexander (Durham U., IPPP ; CERN) ; Whitehead, James (Durham U., IPPP)
Precision measurements of diphoton distributions at the LHC display some tension with theory predictions, obtained at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD. We revisit the theoretical uncertainties arising from the approximation of the experimental photon isolation by smooth-cone isolation, and from the choice of functional form for the renormalisation and factorisation scales.
