Interstitial Li$^+$ Controls the UV Transmission and the Radiation Hardness in YAG / Derdzyan, Marina V (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Hovhannesyan, Karine L (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Novikov, Artur (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Auffray, Etiennette (CERN) ; Petrosyan, Ashot G (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Dujardin, Christophe (ILM, Lyon)
Optical absorption spectra measured in as-grown and gamma-ray irradiatedun-doped YAG, Li-doped YAG, and Ca-doped YAG single crystals arecompared for characterization of effects introduced by impurities. The studiesare conducted on single crystals grown by the vertical Bridgman method.Basing on the Li$^+$ incorporation mechanism, clarification is done regardingthe optimal amounts of Li$^+$ for preparation of YAG:Li crystals with lowconcentration of anion vacancies and related defects giving rise to absorptionin the UV range. Non-linear absorption spectroscopy in pump and probe configuration has been used to test the population of non-equilibrium carriers in Ce-doped Y$_{3}$Al$_{5}$O_${12}$ (YAG), Lu3Al5O12 (LuAG), and Gd3AlxGa(5-x)O12 (GAGG) crystals with and without codoping by Mg2+ ions. A faster rise time of the induced optical density has been observed in all crystals codoped with Mg with respect to that in Mg-free samples. [...]

Identification of tagging jets in VBF H$\to \tau^{−}\tau^{+}$ process with CMS experiment on Large Hadron Collider at large amount of additionally imposed $pp$-interactions / Sirunyan, A M (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Tumasyan, A R (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Khachatryan, V A (NAS Armenia, Yerevan) ; Petrosyan, A G (NAS Armenia, Yerevan)
The procedure of identification of tagging jets in the Higgs boson production process with a following decay of the Higgs boson to τ-leptons (VBF H→τ$^{−}$τ$^{+}$) at the endcup region of the upgraded CMS detector at large amount (140) of additionally imposed pp-interactions is given. The efficiency and purity of tagging jets selection at the CMS endcup region are estimated..

Two-dimensional (2-D) Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (HOIP) crystals, A 2 XY 4 [A = Phenethylammonium (PEA), Butylammonium (BA); X = Pb, Sn, Cu, Mn; Y = Cl, Br, I] have been a subject of interest for solution-processable scintillators for the past two decades, due to the possibility to grow high-quality and large crystals with low-cost techniques. We start the review from PEA 2 PbBr 4 and BA 2 PbBr 4 crystals, which have light yields >10 photons/keV and scintillation decay times < 15 ns. [...]

A quite simple procedure for the generation of a polarized antiproton beam could be worked out if antiprotons are produced with some polarization. In order to investigate this possibility measurements of the polarization of produced antiprotons have been started at a CERN/PS test beam. [...]

The goal of the P-349 experiment is to test whether 3.5 GeV/c antiprotons produced in high-energy proton-proton collisions are polarized in view of the preparation of a polarized antiproton beam. In this article, we present the details of the ongoing analysis focused on the drift chambers calibration and particle identification with DIRC..

Fibers up to 20 cm in length and 1 mm in diameter were grown along [111] direction. [...]
