Neutron-induced fission reactions play a crucial role in a variety of fields of fundamental and applied nuclear science. In basic nuclear physics they provide important information on properties of nuclear matter, while in nuclear technology they are at the basis of present and future reactor designs. [...]

Measurement of the $^{244}$ Cm and $^{246}$ Cm Neutron-Induced Cross Sections at the n_TOF Facility
/ Alcayne, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Kimura, A (JAERI, Tokai) ; Mendoza, E (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Cano-Ott, D (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Amaducci, S (INFN, Catania) ; Andrzejewski, J (Lodz U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Babiano-Suarez, V (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Bacak, M (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U.) et al.
The neutron capture reactions of the$^{244}$ Cm and$^{246}$ Cm isotopes open the path for the formation of heavier Cm isotopes and of heavier elements such as Bk and Cf in a nuclear reactor. In addition, both isotopes belong to the minor actinides with a large contribution to the decay heat and to the neutron emission in irradiated fuels proposed for the transmutation of nuclear waste and fast critical reactors. Characterization and First Test of an i-TED Prototype at CERN n_TOF
/ Babiano-Suarez, V (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Caballero, L (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Domingo-Pardo, C (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Ladarescu, I (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Alcayne, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Amaducci, S (INFN, Catania) ; Andrzejewski, J (Lodz U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Bacak, M (CERN ; TU Vienna) et al.
Neutron capture cross section measurements are of fundamental importance for the study of the slow process of neutron capture, so called s-process. This mechanism is responsible for the formation of most elements heavier than iron in the Universe. [...]

Measurement of the $^{235}$U(n,f) cross section relative to the $^6$Li(n,t) and 10B(n,$\alpha$) standards from thermal to 170 keV neutron energy range at n_TOF
/ Amaducci, S. (Catania U. ; INFN, LNS) ; Cosentino, L. (INFN, LNS) ; Barbagallo, M. (INFN, Bari) ; Colonna, N. (INFN, Bari) ; Mengoni, A. (INFN, Bologna ; ENEA, Bologna) ; Massimi, C. (U. The 235U(n,f) cross section was measured in a wide energy range at n_TOF relative to 6Li(n,t) and 10B(n,alpha), with high resolution and in a wide energy range, with a setup based on a stack of six samples and six silicon detectors placed in the neutron beam. This allowed us to make a direct comparison of the reaction yields under the same experimental conditions, and taking into account the forward/backward emission asymmetry. [...]

(Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) et al.
i-TED is an innovative detection system which exploits Compton imaging techniques to achieve a superior signal-to-background ratio in ($n,\gamma$) cross-section measurements using time-of-flight technique. This work presents the first experimental validation of the i-TED apparatus for high-resolution time-of-flight experiments and demonstrates for the first time the concept proposed for background rejection.
