Precision spectroscopy and laser-cooling scheme of a radium-containing molecule / Udrescu, S M (MIT) ; Wilkins, S G (MIT) ; Breier, A A (Kassel U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, M (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Ruiz, R F Garcia (MIT) ; Au, M (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Belošević, I (TRIUMF) ; Berger, R (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C L (Manchester U.) et al.
Molecules containing heavy radioactive nuclei are predicted to be extremely sensitive to violations of the fundamental symmetries of nature. The nuclear octupole deformation of certain radium isotopes massively boosts the sensitivity of radium monofluoride molecules to symmetry-violating nuclear properties. [...]

The study of molecular systems provides exceptional opportunities for the exploration of the fundamental laws of nature and for the search for physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. Measurements of molecules composed of naturally occurring nuclei have provided the most stringent upper bounds to the electron electric dipole moment to date, and offer a route to investigate the violation of fundamental symmetries with unprecedented sensitivity. On the Feasibility of Rovibrational Laser Cooling of Radioactive RaF$^{+}$ and RaH$^{+}$ Cations / Isaev, Timur A (St. Petersburg, INP) ; Wilkins, Shane G (MIT, LNS) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (CERN ; Leuven U.)
Polar radioactive molecules have been suggested to be exceptionally sensitive systems in the search for signatures of symmetry-violating effects in their structure. Radium monofluoride (RaF) possesses an especially attractive electronic structure for such searches, as the diagonality of its Franck-Condon matrix enables the implementation of direct laser cooling for precision experiments. Isotope Shifts of Radium Monofluoride Molecules / Udrescu, S.M. (MIT) ; Brinson, A.J. (MIT) ; Ruiz, R.F. Garcia (MIT ; CERN) ; Gaul, K. (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Berger, R. (Philipps U. Marburg) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C.L. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Breier, A.A. (Kassel U.) ; Chrysalidis, K. (CERN) et al.
Isotope shifts of $^{223-226,228}$Ra$^{19}$F were measured for different vibrational levels in the electronic transition $A^{2}{}{\Pi}_{1/2}\leftarrow X^{2}{}{\Sigma}^{+}$. The observed isotope shifts demonstrate the particularly high sensitivity of radium monofluoride to nuclear size effects, offering a stringent test of models describing the electronic density within the radium nucleus. Investigating radioactive negative ion production via double electron capture / Nichols, M (Goteborg, ITP) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, M (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Borschevsky, A (Groningen U.) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U.) ; Crosa-Rossa, R (Groningen U.) ; de Groote, R P (Leuven U.) ; Flanagan, K T (Manchester U.) ; Ruiz, R F Garcia (MIT) ; Geldhof, S (Leuven U.) ; Hanstorp, D (Goteborg, ITP) et al.
The relative cross sections for radioactive negative ion production via double electron capture have been measured for collisions between a 40 keV projectile beam of uranium-238 and potassium vapor. This was performed at the collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy (CRIS) experiment at CERN-ISOLDE and is a step towards measuring the electron affinities (EAs) of elements that cannot be efficiently produced in negative ion sources at radioactive ion beam (RIB) facilities. Radiative lifetime of the A 2Π1/2 state in RaF with relevance to laser cooling / ISOLDE Collaboration
The radiative lifetime of the $A$$^2 \Pi_{1/2}$ (v=0) state in radium monofluoride (RaF) is measured to be 35(1) ns. The lifetime of this state and the related decay rate $\Gamma = 2.86(8) \times 10^7$$s^{-1}$ are of relevance to the laser cooling of RaF via the optically closed $A$$^2 \Pi_{1/2} \leftarrow X$$^2\Sigma_{1/2}$ transition, which makes the molecule a promising probe to search for new physics.
