EuroCirCol 16 T Block-Coils Dipole Option for the Future Circular Collider / Lorin, Clement (Saclay) ; Durante, Durante (Saclay) ; Segreti, Michel (Saclay)
EuroCirCol is a conceptual design study for a post-LHC research infrastructure based on an energy-frontier 100 TeV circular hadron collider. In the frame of the high field accelerator magnet design work package of this study, three different layouts for double-aperture dipole magnets made of Nb$_{3}$Sn conductors and providing a field of 16 T in a 50-mm aperture are being considered: block-coils, common-coils, and cosine-theta. [...]

The EuroCirCol 16T Cosine–Theta Dipole Option for the FCC / Sorbi, Massimo (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Bellomo, Giovanni (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Caiffi, Barbara (INFN, Genoa) ; Fabbricatore, Pasquale (INFN, Genoa) ; Farinon, Stefania (INFN, Genoa) ; Marinozzi, Vittorio (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Volpini, Giovanni (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.)
EuroCirCol is a conceptual design study for a post-LHC research infrastructure based on an energy-frontier of the 100-TeV circular hadron collider “Future Circular Collider.” In the frame of the high-field accelerator magnet design work package of this study, three different options for dipole magnets providing a field of 16 T in a 50-mm aperture are being considered: block-coils, common-coils, and cosine-theta. All options are being explored and will be compared based on the same assumptions, in particular for what regards the conductor performance, operating temperature, and margin. [...]

F2D2: A block-coil short-model dipole toward FCC / Felice, Helene (IRFU, Saclay) ; Calvelli, Valerio (IRFU, Saclay) ; Durante, Maria (IRFU, Saclay) ; Mallon, Philip (IRFU, Saclay) ; Manil, Pierre (IRFU, Saclay) ; Millot, Jean-Francois (IRFU, Saclay) ; Minier, Gilles (IRFU, Saclay) ; Rochepault, Etienne (IRFU, Saclay) ; Bord, Alexandre (U. Lorraine) ; Perraud, Simon (IRFU, Saclay) et al.
In the framework of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) program, and in collaboration with CERN, CEA is developing a 1.5-m-long single aperture Nb$_3$Sn block dipole. The so-called FCC Flared-end Dipole Demonstrator (F2D2) will produce at least 15 T with 14% margin at 1.9 K and will be assembled in a shell-based support structure. [...]

Overview of magnet design options: Deliverable D5.1 / Tommasini, Davide (CERN) ; Toral, Fernando (Centro de Investigaciones Energ. Medioambientales y Tecn. - (ES))
This document describes the design options for 16 T superconducting dipole magnets for the FCC hadron collider explored in the frame of the activities of WP5. All options have been considered under comparable assumptions and managed using the same tools to ensure a correct judgement and comparison of their relevant pros and cons. [...]

Quench protection of the 16 T Nb3Sn dipole magnets designed for the Future Circular Collider / Salmi, Tiina (Tampere U. of Tech.) ; Prioli, Marco (CERN) ; Stenvall, Antti (Tampere U. of Tech.) ; Verweij, Arjan P (CERN)
Three different 16 T dipole magnet options for the Future Circular Collider (FCC) have been designed within the H2020 EuroCirCol collaboration, namely a cosθ-, a block-, and a common-coil -type of magnet. All magnets were designed using the same constraints related to magnetic field, cable parameters, mechanics, and quench protection. [...]

Progress on the Upgrade of EDIPO, a 15 T Large Aperture Dipole / Araujo, Douglas Martins (CERN) ; Ballarino, Amalia (CERN) ; Bordini, Bernardo (CERN) ; Bottura, Luca (CERN) ; Hopkins, Simon C (CERN) ; Perez, Juan C (CERN) ; Ravaioli, Emmanuele (CERN) ; de Rijk, Gijs (CERN) ; Bruzzone, Pierluigi (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Sarasola, Xabier (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) et al.
The upgraded magnet assembly of the EDIPO test facility aims at generating 15 T at 4.2 K and 85% of short sample limit in a large rectangular aperture and over a uniform field length of 1000 mm. During 2020 the design studies have concentrated on two flared-end block-coil design options with four double-pancake coils, two per pole. [...]
